Beautiful fig, Leon!  How was taste?  What other fig varieties would you compare this one too?

Taste is sweet and rich- slightly berry hints. Similar to Violette Sollies.

Leon, I seem to remember you and I having a conversation about NdB and Bellone some years ago. I do not remember asking about VdS. Are there enough differences NdB and VdS to warrant having both? I'm especially interested in timing of ripe fruit. Thanks

James,
Noire de Barbentane seems to ripen earlier than Violette Sollies in my area. NdB appears to be more productive for the size of tree and the figs taste similar to Violette Sollies.  I kept the NdB and gave my Violette Sollies to a friend in the southern part of the state where the season is longer.

NdB is supposed to also be more resistant to humidity and rain than VS.  Great looking figs, hope they only get better for you and thank you very much for showing.

You are right Chivas. We are in the high desert monsoon season and get rain almost daily. I have not seen any of these figs split or sour thus far.

Thanks for the info, guys.  I stopped looking for NdB when I got VdS.  I might need to start looking again. I left two figs to ripen on VdS.  They've still got several weeks to go.  We'll see how it goes.
