Had to pick these last nite in steady rain, not picking them would have led to mushy mess. |

Ok Jen the best fig of 2014 was Smith, although I am still hoping one of my Col de Damas ripens. |

Maybe I should make a more comprehensive assessment here: Smith was the best, easily. Negronne proved to be quite tasty, consistent and reliable, and deserves honorable mentions. The Pretos are coming in later this year, and are not as good as last year's. Brooklyn White was quite bland-but a first year tree. White Genoa has been reliable, abundant, typically late and decent. Battaglias have been late and are not as jammy as I expected. I prefer the Adriatic JH (not pictured, but had my last one today). There are still a couple of other varieties I am waiting to ripen but overall a mixture of surprises and disappointments. Next year will bring more of both no doubt! |

Rafael, all of them look so nice, I have most of the darks , all are great, and I have Battaglia which hope is one of the best tasting lights. |

Hey Armando glad you like Preto, it's so nice I am going to add a second tree this winter. Harvey I envy your Panache figs and your pollinated figs. Maybe next year my container Panache will bear fruit. There's always next year. |

Michael, you are right! I edited the post above to add Brooklyn White (so-so fig). Elfarach, you will get there. Container growing is slow growing, but I have no choice. But sometimes I wonder if I will ever get a bumper crop. |

Pino, it is not all success, I have some varieties that produced no fruit, some diseased plants, few brebas, slow growth on babies in 1-gals. As I said, container growing has some benefits, and some drawbacks. |

The Green Ischias looked good, surprised they didn't taste better. It's amazing how purple the Negronne and MvsB ripened. Nice pictures and report. Mike in Hanover, VA |
