Still picking. The PPR could have gone a couple more days, but I wanted to make sure I got to try them before the deer ate them.

How would you rate the Pops Purple Red? Does it have a lot of seed crunch? It looks like a pretty big fig compared to the RDB!

DANG!!! Everyday I read about a different variety, haha... Pop's Purple Red huh, looks like a real good fig. Does it have an AKA?

The Pop's Purple Red came from Belleclare Nursery. Also called Italian Purple Red by them. See the handout from the old nursery below

The Pop's Purple Red is a medium to large fig. Crunchy and sweet but not as sweet as those RDB's pictured.. They were perfectly ripe and delicious. This is my first year picking the RDB and it was all around great. One of the earliest to ripen for me. The PPR was probably picked a day or 2 too soon.
