Have some seeds from Pastilliere and Alma.
Maybe for 2 people, PM me if you want any.

I mailed quite a few envelopes with seeds since the thread was started, I know many have germinated.
I would appreciate if you give some feedback/photos over here for other people to see and just to keep track.

Thanks!

all gone

I did get seed and they are growing great. One variety are larger than the others. I will try to take notes when I'm back down at the greenhouses. Thanks again for the seed.

Wow, guys! Thank you!
I honestly did not expect this much progress from those little babies :)
I wish you all good luck with them.

You know that if you start a 6 inch cutting and a seed now, by the end of the summer the seedling will easily overtake the tree started from the cutting, they grow really fast provided enough room and heat. 6-7 ft tall easily.

The nice thing about the seedlings that they care less about the gnats! They grow faster than the buggers can eat.

Still have enough for 1 more person. The seeds are in a cup with water and would be mailed in a moist paper towel. If nobody claims them by tomorrow night, I will divide between the current takers.

Ohhhhh Ok, that makes sense lol. You take good care of those babies never know what the end result will be.

I grew this from a seed of some Turkish dried figs I eventually got rid of it.

I was already annoyed with some common types that didn't fruit didn't want to keep something for years and eventually it be a caprifig or Smyrna so I gave it to someone who wanted to do a bonsai. I also had a few mission and kadota seedlings that shared the same faith.

They have grown some.  Did some up-cupping this morning.

Figs_299.jpg
The small ones recently sprouted. Maybe they're Panachee?

Wow! That's beautiful! I am glad they do so well for you. You will notice in a while that the seedlings from the same mother fig will start to look and grow differently. I am always fascinated by the way the Nature does things.

These seedlings are the powerhouses lol.  Funky coloration on some leaves.  Is that normal?

I never get tired of looking at them. :)

Nice! Do you keep track of the varieties? The coloration might mean some nutrient deficiency but I wouldn't worry about it until next August. As soon as they are outside, they will be happy growers.

I'm pretty sure the ones that sprouted are the Paradiso.  It was hard for me to really tell the seeds apart but I did try my best to separate them.  These were the lighter color, larger seeds.  You said the smaller, darker ones were Panachee.  Good chance they are mixed up.  I don't see tiny things so good any more.

Is there any research on the possibility of FMV being transferred from parent to seed?

My parents have no visible signs of FMV. It is a good question though

Is there any research on the possibility of FMV being transferred from parent to seed?
Any virus can be transfered by seed, yet that is very rare for FMV to do and there are other things that make a fig's leaf look like FMV makes them look.
Alan,
Would you have any reference to support the "very rare for FMV to do" claim?
I have not seen a publication with tests
