Even though the Wuhan and Panachee were not totally ripe, I am not impressed with Wuhan.. way too much work for the fruit. Perhaps in a hot weather it would do better.

As to the panachee, it was pretty sweet.  I just like this fruit so much.. I think next year, they will be better. 

What I noticed with these two is that both of them swell up so much and as the ripened, they shrunk quite a bit... I don't remember this with my others.

Grasa, could you elaborate on what you meant by " too much work for the Wuhan"?

After years of bugging fig members to send me cuttings, and trying rooting 3 batches of some 10 cuttings, only one survived.  Gorgeous leaves, beautiful growth, 4 figs, I knocked 3 out to see what it is like I allowed one to grow... and it rains, so I bring it inside, it is sunny goes outside, put in a cold frame, monitor gnats, change to larger pot, water from the bottom, too heavy to carry in and out.  Finally it was this huge fig.. I was totally wow with it, at the same time other varieties were also developing, and ripening and the Wuhan just took its sweet time.  then, I noticed it actually started shrinking.

So I stopped looking at it every day... today it seems to have shrunk 1/4 of its size. I don't get it.. it felt soft to the touch, so I picked it. We have too much rain and the temperature is dropping. This fig was not going to get any  better.  That is what I think.  It is not a fig for here, and I spent too much energy to have it.. now I am stuck with it. So, hopefully next year with more aging it will show me it is worth of my attention.

Grasa, How do you describe the Wuhan's taste if there was any? As you said, this is a fig for the hotter zones, will see how it does in the Paradise next year.

Nice figs Grasa!  I'm anxiously waiting for my panachee to ripen, hoping they do so before the cold hits here.

Do the panachee droop when ripe, "eye pointing straight down," like most other figs?  One swelled and is softening but still pointing horizontal.

I will find out next year also on the Wuhan. It really gets hot here in the "Official Fig Paradise", the Central Valley of California......Thanks for Sharing.

Phil, I really don't know, this is my first Panachee ever. I was worried it would became moosh and rot, as a few others did... it is raining way too much here and it is cold.  the fruit was huge. (Slavi saw it huge) and slowly it is becaming squeashy, but not soft... very strange.  It needs more sunshine than I have for it. Next year, I am going to put a few on top of the roof of my shed.. I don't know what else to do... I want them, but they don't like to be here...  I have another one grafted and seems to be doing better, can only continue to monitor to find out if grafting helps it improve here and adjust to this miserable soggyness.

Ahhh Wuhan Wuhan... love of my life!  LOL
