Temps suppose to dip into the mid to low 30's tonight. Anyone worried? Shuffle again? |

I have swolen buds and some new little leaves so I'm pulling all of my fig trees in Danny. Tomorrow is supposed to be a cold night also. |

Our good/beautiful Earth has been going through cold-hot-cold-hot natural climate cycle changes for many million years before we humans even ever existed. |

For the next 4 nights by me, I see 30, 30, 37, 39. The figs are in for the 30 nights definitely. I actually took them in a few days ago because it was supposed to be around 30/31, but wound up being about 39/40. The shuffle doesn't work during the work week! So there in for another few days, all have leafed out, some with significant growth. |

I put mine in the garage last night. It's going to be in the 30s tonight, so they didn't come out today. Not shuffling 2 days in a row. |

We are expecting -4C (25F) for the next 2 nights here. It was -2C last night. After this weekend it looks like its back to warmer weather. |

Mine have been outside for the lost 10 days. We will have -2C and I am giving up on the shuffles except for a dozen young favorite ones. Let the others (many) deal with the nature. Que sera sera..... |

I think that I am just gonna throw a blanket over my figs tonight and tomorrow and hope for the best. I would hate to lose the new growth that my vdb just pushed. Just an FYI I was working in north Jersey today and got snowed on. It was just another reminder of how I have to get the heck out of this state. |

Well, I did the shuffle... again. Promised myself that I wouldn't but took a trip out to Bill's Figs in Flemington, NJ earlier; bought a Cucumber and Melanzana. Standing there talking with Bill and it started snowing. Ran home and decided to put the young ones in the shed.... then one or two favorites... then a few that had some nice embryos forming.... then.... then.... 50 pots later and I swear this is the last time! Left the 20 gal pots outside and about 40 other 3 gal pots that should be okay. Broke out the heater again for the cuttings rooting in the greenhouse. |

Even now it feels ridiculously cold out. Glad I covered mine earlier but only with fleece blankets. Hope it's enough. I'll leave them on until Saturday because tomorrow's going to be cold as well at night. As long as it doesn't rain the blankets should be fine. I wasn't about to do a full-blown winter protection as it's only temporary. I know a lot of you have potted figs up north for easier cold protection but I like mine in ground as part of the landscape. Riskier but worth it. |

Got down to 36 around midnight here on the south shore of Staten Island. Don't know if it got any colder after that. 40 now. Didn't go outside yet to assess. |

i will check my trees tonight. They are staying out. I don't have time to move them in and out this year. |

Small brebas seem to have taken a hit, they look dried out today. |

I didn't peek yet and I don't think I will. Anyone else with inground trees plan on keeping them covered until tomorrow or Sunday? Hopefully they make it unscathed. |
