Are Green Greek as sold by Dureo Nursery in Louisiana and White Greek sold by Encanto Farms the same variety. If they are not, can anyone give a comparison of the two? God bless. |

Thanks. After I posted question I found an extensive thread on the subject and ended up more confused than I started. God bless. |

Actually there are 2 different White Greeks. One is from Rafed who is no longer a member here. Jon of Encanto Farms does sell that one with RK at the end of the name to distinquish it from other White Greeks which are different from the one that Rafed sold to Jon. Green Greek as sold by Durio Nursery in Louisiana is a late bearing fig and is freaking good! But don't get me wrong about the one that Jon sells. GG stays green and is beet red inside when ripe Here are a few pics of GG that Durio sells... |

Thanks Dennis. The reason for my question is that I had ordered a GG from Dalton Dureo, so I'm glad to hear that it's really good. When you say that it's a late fig, how late? Should I expect to have trouble ripening it here in Zone 8B South Georgia? |

It will ripen in late August and September. If you're in Georgia, it will definately fruit for you. |

How would you compare Green Greek to Green Ischia / Strawberry Verte? I have a mature one of those, and it's my favorite fig tree so far. I love the strawberry jam flavor. Somewhere, maybe on here I read that Green Greek was also strawberry jam like. From what you say about it's ripening time, I'm guessing its a bit latter than Green Ischia, but other than that, are there any glaring differences? Just curious. God bless. |

As for the Deanna, I have a protected spot in find for it on the south side of a lake house I co-own with my sister and cousins in SE Georgia. I figure my sister's and cousins grandkids will enjoy them. |
