I am a newbie in the world of figs. I live in Germany and love figs so much. It is three weeks ago since I put my first cuttings in peat mos. Now a lot of them get roots. Yesterday I put the rooted cuttings in transparent cups with a mixture of perlite and vermiculite. The Cuttings are the "Patlican" from turkey. I want to prensent you my results:
First I have mixed my mixture with vermiculite and perlite. The mixture is light moist. I have sprayed the mixture and the roots a little bit with watter. Afterwards I have put the cuttings in a cup and spray water on the surface. The cups have holes on the buttom and on the side.
I put the figs in a closed container and put the container on the windowsill.

Welcome to the forum. You have a fig that many people in America can't get due to importing rules of plant material. Your cuttings look wonderful. Please keep us updated.

Thank you. I will do that.
I hope that they will not rotting. I want to open the container every day for a few minutes and spray water on the surface. I hope that this measures will be enough.
What about a sunny place. Can I put the box on the southside in the sun or is that not recommendable?

Keep it inside, if you put them outside they might overheat. The window will be enough to get them started. They already have roots and started to grow from what the pictures show.

Would you spray water on the surface every day or is this not required?

After a day you will see condensation on the walls of the bin just from the water you have in the cups. I would wait before spraying more water. Thats just my thoughts.

How gratifying for a first try! I don't think you will be waiting long to see those lovely long roots on the walls of the cups.

UPDATE:
Here are the latest pictures of my first fig cuttings. Now I have got rooting more varieties like Brunswick, Kadota.. I hope they dont rotted.
The substrateisslightly damp.I donot spraying it with water for now. I give the cups fresh air every day for 30 minutes. I think if the sides of the cups have condensation and the figs are developing they dont need anything. I don't have overflowing the cups with water when I have potting the cuttings in cups.
What do you think when I can I try to repotting the cuttings in pots? In two months?

Hi there,
I tried to root the purple and green aubergine paltician fig cuttings from turkey, they rooted well in the moss and i transplanted to the cups, they were doing so well and they started to rot, so i would say keep an eye on mold and all the best.

How you have seen the rotting of the root oder cutting during the process in cups? The roots were light brown day after day but the pocks are green and looks healthy.
Are they rotted or this is normal? You scared me :)

UPDATE:
Hi guys,
I could not wait more. So I have potted my first great rooted figs. They are the Patlican from turkey. They dont need the wesp. First I try to make my own soil mixture with soil, nature compost, pine bark and perlite.
Here one picture of the great rooting developing :)
And finally the place where I place the figs. It is a greenhouse.
I have got a big container. What do you think. Is it possible to put the figs in or the greenhouse sufficient?

They're better off outside of the container as long as they don't start to wilt. You've done a great job. Congratulations.
