So this a Lsu red I picked up last season, it put out a few figs that have a red eye, spots, and interior, it still in a pot and may get darker in the up coming years, hopefully. Overall it was sweet and figgy so it is a keeper for sure.

Mayb3 needed a few more days. My wife is the fig ripe picker. She says you gently push upward from bottom of fig straight up. If it dont easily come off give it another day. Here in Louisiana you may get split figs waiting lol. Splitting is realky only a issue on my purple. Raining everyday day here just enoght to wet the ground good.

If he worked at Lsu I definitely say that is reliable, lol, i never really doubted it, there is  a lot of red in this fig, like AL Blake said, very unique.

It was very good, I'm not good at the flavor profiling but it was figgy and sweet. I've noticed in my yard that they taste so much better after I put them in ground and this one was actually good for still being in a pot.

Ryan,

Fruit displays the characteristics of LSU Red (sugar spots, size, shape and the neck of the fruit). It would of turned red if you had waited few more days. If possible, please post photos of the leaves.

Your tree is labeled correctly. Be more patient and the skin color will turn red.

The air layer has been on for a month or better and still has not rooted yet, while all my other air layers have.

You're welcome Bryan. This is an excellent variant and extremely rain tolerant. In past 5 years, non of the fruits on this variant has ever cracked or split due to rain. It only puts main crop here and they ripe late. And it isn't an easy rooter at all- hardwood or air layer. Air layers will take 2-3 months to root and sometimes they even fail to root while other air layers, on other plants root within 3-4 weeks. Navid.
