I have 4 of these growing and was told they were self fertile.
Reading threw old post people say no.
Reading jons fig list with a sum of each variety it says self fertile. Are there two different varieties of this fig. ? Thanks for your opinions.

My understanding is they are a smyrna type.

Jon publishes other people's descriptions as they wrote them.  If it's a smyrna by definition it needs the wasp to produce fruit.  If it produces fruit without the wasp it's incorrectly named.

Richie I believe you received your Purple Smyrna cuttings from me. Purple Smyrna, is not a "true" Smyrna fig, and will fruit without caprification (pollination by fig wasp).
