Got my order of figs from wellsprings gardens today. They all ranged from 4" to 10" tall. Priced between $5 and $6 each. Not bad for the price. I think shipping was $10 flat for as many as you ordered. Then you can pick out a free plant from a list if you spent so much. I spent $30 witch gets you 2 free plants so I got a couple coffe plants. I do not work for them or benefit from talking about them. Just thought I would share for anyone looking to purchase from them. Hopefully in a couple of years they should be fruiting.

Wellsprings is great, Chad.  I bought a few 4" from them and shipping was good.  Plants were in good condition and, you're right, good price...but I forgot to get my free plant :/  I was going to order kiwi so you reminded me about the free plant deal.  Thanks!

Me too, I purchased some plants from them last year, they all doing great. A little to small but so was the price

Glad to hear positive things about WSG.. do you recommend keeping them from going dormant this winter since they are so small yet? I will have my grow lights going all winter for my citrus plants so that won't be a problem. Thanks

Chad, newbie to figs....

Two seasons ago, I bought tissue-cultured, OLYMPIAN fig trees.  The tiny, 6"-8" trees are now over 5 ft. tall and I was able to get about a dozen figs off them this season.  I did pinch out the figs that grew on the trees during the first year.  I would not let these tiny trees get anywhere near freezing temps.  I would grow them along with the citrus, and give them as much sun as possible.  Next season, slowly acclimate them to full sun, and warmer temps.  You will be surprised at how fast they will grow and produce figs once they are  planted either in ground, or in a very large container (minimum 5 gallons/quick-draining mix), and fertilized heavily.  Pinch out all figs for the first 1-2 seasons.  Concentrate on growing the root system first, then, you can grow for fig production.

The price is right, the trees are disease-free, and you'll be picking figs in a few seasons.  How can you go wrong?  Just beware of how you overwinter your trees in Zone-5 temps, which will kill your trees, if you don't prevent your trees from freezing.

I was interested in desert king a while ago, when i get the chance i'll buy one from there, interestingly it has a larger breba crop than main crop, that can be nice because my conadria has a light breba crop and heavy main crop

Small, but healthy and very vigorous growers in the spring A+!  For such small trees, they had some impressive roots. First year fruits on 2 of mine from them, and grew about 4 feet tall in just the first season.

I ordered 4 VdB from Wellspring 5 months ago and it was as many have said- tiny weeds at tiny prices, but they bush out vigorously. Did anyone pinch off the apical stems and what were your results?

I have pinched them off. They will typically sprout  a sucker when you do that. Let the sucker grow and it will surpass the pinched stem. If that is what you want. Not sure what you are  trying to accomplish.

Thank you. I have observed that too. Mine also surprisingly sprouted figlets and I was trying to find out if that is typical of this source, tissue culture itself, this particular cultivar or something else. From what I read generally tissue culture takes a long time to put out figs vs rooting wood from trees?

Ultimately, I want to propagate enough wood to grow a living fence.

Mine were tiny too, but caught up and then some within six months, I am very happy with them!

I got a LSU Purple from them off ebay. They said 3-8". I got a 3".  So far so good.

Mine were all tiny too. Bought several last September. Right now, my Dessert King already has a couple of figs even though its still under three feet. Maybe its only two feet.
