Great, it is getting sold before there are any fruit pictures. Or has it fruited, just not something anyone would want for the fruit, just the charming dead cat story? |

Doesn't Cajunb have a blog somewhere of all this stuff? I think you need permission to see it unfortunately. That would give some clarity. |

Who is the person selling the fig on eBay |

...And FYI only 25% of the original seedlings would have been persistent females that got selection numbers. The rest (aside from persistent caprifigs that were selected for future breeding) never got selection numbers and were never shared with other researchers or growers for further trial. |

That is what you said, not me. You were criticizing the naming of LSU Red then (a known persistent female fig that has been documented with pictures so buyers know what they are getting), but don't apply the same rules now when you promote unknown and undocumented "LSU" figs that were suggested to be caprifigs several years ago. I have been around long enough to know that when a "rare" variety is released without fruit pictures there is a reason. |

I am not selling this 2 I am not promoting This. I just posted a link that this was For sale on Ebay By a member in case someone was interested. I know Brain and the info he has is correct. I asked YOU If you were Stating That their is no DC Series ?? And This was not in the L S U Breeding Program ??? A simple yes or no will Do. I just took it that your had all this Knowledge Of L S U That You would know, I know you and Dan didn't see eye to eye but one should not always post negative unless they have first hand knowledge. And Again are you stating their is No DC Series in the L S U Breeding Program Thank You for you input |

Documenting with pictures does not prove that the LSU Red is from the LSU program. Saying it came from an "unnamed botanist" who received it from Dr O'Rourke does not prove it came from the LSU program. |

I always say if you did not cut it yourself from the Tree and label it From L S U then its a third party and errors happen |

Many people don't see eye to eye about the LSU figs, I think the mythology of lost figs that are somehow better than the selections and releases made by Dr. O'Rourke is disrespectful of his work. |

This is his Work !!! And the known caprifigs used in His work were know as C-1 and C-2 . And again you have Not answer the question about the DC Series ????? Yes or No And how do you disrespect his work By making sure it is kept alive he wanted his figs to get out to others |

For me plant breeding is like art, an artist does not release/show everything that they ever created. They only release/show what they are most proud of. |

Chapman, the pictures of LSU Red are not quite like any other variety I have seen, but do have similarities to other LSU varieties. That in combination with the explanation given is enough for me. Respecting someone's wishes for privacy is nothing to criticize a person for. If the story is concocted it would be very easy for detractors to present one that is more compelling by identifying LSU Red as a known variety. Instead there are just incoherent doubts that don't really add up to anything. |

I received a LSU Red cutting from David N.,David is a graduate from LSU and also work for the fig breeding program .David told me that a botanist from NC ordered a LSU Gold fig tree from LSU,some how the cuttings were mixed up and a LSU Red was sent.David traveled to NC to ID the fig,so being familiar with the figs he knew it was a LSU Red.I did take extensive pic of the LSU Red last year ,but lost them on computer cause of a virus, but this year will post pics of this fig along with pics from the DC figs .......... |
