Here is an update and a follow-up on my Lebanese Black/Purple Breba. When fully ripe, it is juicy, sweet, complex with a hint of acidity that lingers in your mouth!

Does the main crop require pollination? Also any idea what the Lebanese name is? Does Baka ring a bell?

To the best of my knowledge, it does not require pollination. As far as the Lebanese name, figs were identified in Lebanon by their color, as in Black and or Yellow figs, but this fig did not come from the Bekaa valey, instead, it came from one of the two adjacent villages in Lebanon; either Baskinta or Bteghreen.

I have people who grow it in zone 6, but it's grown in pots. I don't have any tested in the ground yet! Although, where it came from originally, temperatures dip below freezing. It produces brebas early June followed by the main crop in mid-July. So, I would consider it amongst early ripeners.

Thanks for sharing these fig photos Nick!
Looks like a fig I would like, would love to try growing this fig in Canada Zone 6. We get lots of sunny hot days in summer so it should ripen.
