Here are some pics of a fruit from this first-year tree.  If the weather cooperates, I can leave the fruit on longer and it turns deeper in color and more rich in flavor.  Very good fruit, similar to a very good improved Celeste in flavor but definitely has its own character. 10 out of 10 for this variety in terms of flavor.

Mario, that fig looks very tasty! Just wondering...its called LSU Red but its not very red inside. The outside gets more red with more maturing on the branch and how about the outside?

The inside stays close to that color and the outside darkens more.  I believe it is called LSU red because it's red exterior.  Its a fantastic fig in terms of flavor, texture, and growth.

The flavor should improve with age, that would make it off the scale. Congratulations, Mario.

One excellent fig. Never splits in heavy rain.

Y'alls LSU Reds look exactly like the ones from my tree and yes, it is a good fig. It is not as large as my Improved Celeste though. I noticed the figs on my tree came on late but ripened rather quickly compared to other verieties. My Figo Preto, for example, put on figs late spring early summer and are not yet ripe.

It really is a great fig.  I was pleasantly surprised, especially considering that this was its first year.  Most trees get better with age, and if that is the case here I have a lot to look forward to.  Oh yea, it is already 7 feet tall so it looks like good grower in my climate

Thanks Sas!  Let me know if I can ever do anything for you.
