Hi All, 

When I was digging and repotting my in ground trees I found this sucker.  I found an interesting way to detach it as it was less than 6 inches long.  I cut the root off with it into the bark.  It is still living on the heat mat with a dome over top and I will report on it's progress.  Easy way to get another tree.

I did just this about 2 weeks ago. Plenty of root development but no leaves yet. 

Great minds think alike Joe. I am curious, did you cover the scar with any material on the main tree?

Ive never covered a cut to any tree, and have never had a problem. They seem to heal very quickly. I generally take a long utility kife and slide it into the soil parallel to the main trunk - close to take roots with the cutting.


I'm not brave enough to cut out any of the main trunk. I have 5 suckers taken this way recently rooting well right now in a window. So much easier and faster than cuttings.
