If I counted all the dead fig cuttings, dead trees...I would have almost 100 varieties of figs. Now I have around 30 varieties. No more buying..no more buying. I hope this resolution will last me for a year at least. Happy new year everyone. |

I will pause and seriously think about whether I need the fig I don't have before buying/bidding. I don't know that it will stop me but at least it's a step...maybe not in the right direction but at least it's a step...almost...sigh. Back to surfing Ebay. |

I think the best way to curb my fig addiction is to disconnect my internet. I can't want/buy what I can't see...LOL! |

There is excellent logic in starting with common fig cuttings to learn and to gain experience prior to increasing inventory and watching many of them die from, most of the time, preventable mistakes. It is very frustrating to watch any cutting die, it is very expensive to watch the premium cuttings/young trees die. |

I agree dkirtexas. I would add that not all cuttings take in best of conditions, some varieties will take very well some not at all. I have heard good results about grafting those hard to root varieties. My new year's resolution is to put half of my discretionary money into restoring my truck a little more, not just more trees. |

My resolution is two get rid of most of my common figs from the south and keep only my favorite figs or figs from other countries. I have pot after pot of green ischia Celeste white ishia. Etc. That i rooted and rooted for practice. Now i am taking care of these. And i already have them in ground. |

I will eat fresh figs from my own trees. I will stop chasing exotics and focus on reliable proven varieties. |
