A Very Happy New Year My Fig Friends. To those not familiar with the story of The Godfather Fig Tree, here is the link: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/the-fig-tree-from-the-godfather-movie-7801937?&trail=50
I have recently trimmed the tree and have a bunch of really nice cuttings available. I would like to spread this wonderful tree to as many friends as I can, so this year I am making the cuttings available for $5.00 each with $8.00 for priority shipping per order. WILL SHIP ONLY to allowable states in the USA !! NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING !! If anyone who purchased cuttings from me last year did not grow a healthy tree out of it, let me know and the new cuttings are on me. Here is a link to the photobucket pictures of the tree .
My hero and newest BFF is Bill Lauris aka Big Bad Bill. He is the first person who grew a tree last year that ripened and ate a fig. The pictures of the fig on the plate are Bill's and he gave me his permission to post them . Thank you again Bill. I love the way it looks when sliced in half, and appreciate our friendship.
My friend who has the mother tree also ate quite a few this year for the first time ever and was excited by its sweetness. (also noted by Bill) The variety is still up for discussion and I will only claim what I know, and that is that it is a tree that was brought in from Sicily especially for The Godfather movie some 45 years ago (yikes) I think we will know more this year about the variety as many of us will have second year trees and they should ripen figs for many of us. The tree is a fantastic rooter, I grew out well over 50 of them last year. Let's have some fun with this one. NO PM'S Paypal to: gobohead0951@aol.com
Email me at : gobohead0951@aol.com with your address, forum name and number of cuttings requested

Coop my tree grew nicely last year. It is an easy rooter. I'm really hoping that it produces this year so that I can get a taste first hand. Eventually I'll clone a tree from it to trial its in ground winter hardiness.
A big Thank You for letting me partake in growing this tree.

Very cool. My "roots" are in Sicily -not too far from Corleone in fact. Its a wonderful place. This is a fig variety i've not seen. I go there a lot but I've never seen a fig leaf shaped like that in the south of italy. Can you provide some history? Did the owners know Copola?
Hope it roots well for all who bought.

Fred Even though Bill had the first fig, nobody had a more wonderful story of a cutting than you and I will always cherish it Cheers
