That’s the one on the corner of NY and Van Buren?

Have you checked out the one behind the 1st house on your block?

Anyway, the fig has very little seed inside, large round shape. very tight opening. The best I ever taste.

Anyone want to suggest it's ID?

Did Obama's claim credit or one of those "other" nasty Dems?

And lets not forget the 33,000 US jewels injured in Iraq/Afghanistan

So, lets summarize for clarity, last week GWB said

“I put that program in place to protect the country. One of the certainties was that civil liberties were guaranteed,” Bush said, flanked by his smiling wife Laura. "I think there needs to be a balance, and as the president explained, there is a proper balance."

http:// http://www.masslive.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/07/george_w_bush_defends_nsa_spyi.html

And that’s Obama’s fault? So you must also think Iraq was Obama’s fault and Afghanistan was Obama’s fault and the worst times since the Great depression was Obama’s fault?

Right?

Oh Yeah, 1 more thing, you must also think this is Obama's fault

Lets remember President Bush authorized the taps on domestic phone calls and e-mails shortly after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The surveillance machine was already grinding away for longer than Obama has been President. I don’t remember Reps complaining until Obama came along.

But as Emeril  likes to say GWB "Kicked it up" to unheard of levels and for good reason. And I don't remember many complaints from Reps during GWB's reign, only during Obama's.

And Peter King is right!

Ever seen them? Any idea what they are? If so are they harmful to my fig trees?

I have an extra unknown for postage, 16 oz cup, Paypal only. Collected by Chris in TN.
Comes with a story.

“Hendersonville Green. The story goes that this 80 yr old woman's Grandfather brought a small tree over from Italy. He kept the tree Alive with water from his canteen while traveling by boat from Italy to New York. One of his cuttings was planted 40 years ago on the side of her house and the rest is history. The figs are large green with a strawberry colored pulp.”

I’ll take a pass on that, but thanks. Reminds me of when I was in grammar school, must have been  6th or 7th grade. There was this specialty store on Park Ave sold all kinds of foodstuff from all over the world. I spotted an assortment of chocolate covered bugs. Bees, ants and a few others, which I can’t remember. You really couldn’t tell by looking, just a chocolate cube. I bought a box and handed them out to some of the girls in the schoolyard during lunch hour. When they found out I thought they were going to neuter me. Truth is I wasn’t man enough to eat one.

The first one, you couldn’t buy anything for a $1 at the other 2. Probably going again on the 28th, I'll be in the city for a Dave Davies show at the Winery.

Don’t know if you ever had Dim Sum it can be quite good.

They roll carts around the dinning room with small dishes with all kinds of dumpling “like” things. You pick what looks good.

Basically you have to secure the root ball to the pot and the pot to the box. I put something like a piece of foam or bubble wrap on top of the soil (making it higher than the edge of the cup), enclose the pot in a plastic bag, run tape around vertically. I use a strip of wood the size of the box, tape the pot to the wood, hot glue the wood to the box. I have a table saw so it’s easy for me to rip off strips of wood about 1/8 inch thick.

Thats nothing. Personally I wouldn’t give FMV a second thought unless it’s very severe and limits plant growth or affects the fruit. About 10 years ago I was given a newly rooted cutting from UC Davies. It spent the entire 1st year yellow and about 7 inches tall. Today you wouldn’t even know. Many times you’ll see the first few leaves of a newly rooted cutting mottled or disfigured. They usually grow out of it.

Cicadas to outnumber people 600 to 1

WASHINGTON (AP) - Any day now, billions of cicadas with bulging red eyes will crawl out of the earth after 17 years underground and overrun the East Coast. The insects will arrive in such numbers that people from North Carolina to Connecticut will be outnumbered roughly 600-to-1. Maybe more.

Molasses

AS AN INSECTICIDE

Yes, it is true. You will not find any university studies on Molasses as an insecticide, but the bottom line is that Molasses is very effective against sucking insects like Lace bugs, Aphids, and Whitefly. Why? this is because Molasses actually increases the natural sugar content of plants (Brix Level). Pest insects cannot dispel the gasses caused by sugars and will leave high sugar plants alone.

Outstanding for controlling Fungal Gnats and Thrips.

I do think that if I am going to grow in containers I must look to the hydroponics industry for things that make plants grow better. This also affects fruit taste and yield .There are many things that help our plants grow stronger better.

This is the only thing that works for me. Over the last 10 years I caught about 50 groundhogs. First 2 years about 10 - 12 a year, less and less every year, none last year but I’m ready. For me it’s really easy. They come in the same corner of the yard every single time. I just put a pot at the corner and when it gets moved time to set the trap.

Did you know groundhogs could climb trees? I wouldn’t have believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes. It was about 7 feet off the ground munching on leaves.
