Coming out nicely.  The Gino's ended up with a little more loss than initially thought.  The MBVS is still ahead in putting out vegetative growth.

This is the first year I have both in ground coming out of winter.  Both were treated the same (insulated and wrapped with tarp) and side by side on the south wall of the house. The MBVS is 3 year old tree been in ground 1.5 years, the Ginos a 2.5 year old tree been in ground just under a year.  Both bore well last year and were trimmed back to about 6.5' for winter.

MBVS:  5-6" of tips dead, rest of plant healthy.  Started budding out immediately after uncovering (were swelling covered).

Gino's Bl:  1-3" of tips dead, rest of plant is healthy.  Took 3 weeks to start budding out.

Conclusion:  at least in my case with my two trees I would call the Ginos more cold hardy as it had less damage and waited longer to bud out, avoiding any late freezes.

James,
very nice,  next time, try the point as pastrami.   HEAVEN!!!!
will more closely resemble the "plate" that a lot of old fashioned pastrami used to be made from.

Jenny,

I have no experience with St Anthony or Sumacki yet but RDB is great and reported to be one of the best tasting figs there is.
I am sure others will chime in.
BTW, I also am in NWA and sent you a PM

Subject: Wild Cherry, scion friendly? Replies: 2

I have SEVERAL wild cherry trees along my back property line.
I have a couple questions.

1)  If I had desirable cherry scion, would the graft be compatible?
2)  If the answer to #1 is yes, does anyone have any great cherry scion they would be willing to share for postage or trade?

Charlie
Let me know, I can do an air layer of my MBVS and Gino's Black this spring if you don't have a high enough rooting success from the cuttings I gave you to share with them. Where is this located?
I am guessing NOT Fayetteville?
I have several different varietal fig plants I want to get rid of, but are too big to ship.
