On most phone cameras in the settings you can reduce the resolution when taking the pics to make them smaller and more web friendly.

I got some last year, was able to root this variety even as a first time rooter.  The tree grows strong and will have fruit next season, I can't wait to try them!

Thanks for everything Frank!

I am definitely going to try this idea. Thanks for sharing it!

Look at James' post on the link above, be sure to put the sticky side out!

Do you girdle the branch at all?

Do you have pics that show the results or is this your fist attempt?

You added no details nor comments.  Where did you see this technique?

Be patient, there will be a plethora of cutting coming available very soon.  Additionally, if you looking for something particular, just ask if anyone will have some you can buy.

I only had three varieties produce figs this year LSU IC, Hardy Chicago and Sweet George.  They were all good, yet the Sweet George really stood out for me.  I should have many more to try next year.

Is it next year yet???

Though, I wouldn't recommend it for the south west.

I still keep thinking about giving it a try, what do you think our climate is lacking?

Their website did say shipping would commence again come September 30th. Nothing on the site had a price or availability until just a couple of days ago. Apparently, they decided to start shipping a little early or at least taking orders to ship a little earlier than expected. Additionally, they're showing a few new cultivars to what they had last year. I have an alert set up for when the Black Maderia is available hopefully it's this year. I have a real Black Maderia I would like to compare it to theirs.

I got three Fig trees from JF&E last X-Mas all in 3 gallon pots, made it to Colorado in perfect shape, grew and fruited.  Highly recommended!

I was fortunate enough to taste one at Tim Clymers Three Fold Farm, So far the Kathleen's Black is one of my favorite, and one I'm super thankful I already have.

In my book it is premier cultivar.

Is it on the chopping block because you don't want to give it a couple to years to mature and come into it's own, or do you already have one that is similar?  What about it was not impressive?

I'm still pretty new so I always ask.  It is hard to tell from the photo, but it does not appear to completely ripe, if so that could be a big part of the disappointment.

The older leafs on mine have done the same thing, and we went from the 70's to the 90's.  It seems to me that it is just a little bit of shock, the new leafs on mine are adjusted and showing no issues.  Sun burn perhaps.

Here and I thought every one took green cutting from their trees and then mow them into oblivion.

Guess I'll have to put those days behind me now.   So weird! !!!!

I was wondering the same thing.  We are currently experiencing the wettest year I remember ever having in Colorado Springs.  This year we have already seen "officially" 28.77 inches, my weather station has recorded over 35 inches.  Kind of crazy for being in the DESERT.

A 5 day trek is quite a distance to drive indeed.  Perhaps if you talk to them by phone they may ship to you given the circumstances.

I'm in zone 5 at high elevation as well, my put culture figs do great.

Rick,

That would be a great time.... but I live in Colorado. I hope to be in the area later this year, we shall see how things work out.

Like I  said I have an LSU black that I ordered from ptfp and a cutting I  rooted from a generous member that was labeled Scott's black.  I hope they are different, if so great, if not fine.....

Thank you for the response, I look forward to jason's answer.

I just got an LSU black from Petals from the past and I am hardening off a cutting from a very generous member that was lacked Scott's black.

I now am very curious to see if they are the same, simular, different or through the chain of custody have been mislabeled.
