That's a tasty looking fig but the leaves are not reminiscent of Vasilika, which are thinner and more finger like. Could be a Ischia or Verte fig variety

It's been extremely dewey in Seattle and some of my figs have been splitting. The Verte and Kadota Namely. But the smith Fig has been very resistant! Look at how much dew is collecting on this fig and it's holding on strong.

Seattle has a ton of large Desert King Trees. As a I understand it they are San Pedro type which should mean that only the Brebas will ripen.

In July I observed a ton of ripen fruit on this tree. However now in Sept it's produced just as much main crop figs that are tasty and ripen(ing).

They are not as watery as the brebas but still sweet and tasty.

Has anyone else noticed this with their DK or could there be another variety that has the same look and taste as DK with 2 crops?

I've picked a few Smith figs from my 3yr old tree. I have to say that this is a great tasting fig. Long lasting rich flavor and sweet but not jammy sweet which I prefer. The flavor haunts you for a couple hrs after eating.

Yum!

I'll get some photos of the leaves and will upload. Here's another shot of the perfectly ripe fruit. So good! Sweet with a winey after taste. Probably extra watery because the heavy rains we had recently.

I'd be happy to share a few cuttings just PM me.

Took some cuttings from this tree found in Seattle. Today the fruit ripened. It's absolutely gorgeous. Incredible watery slurpness, rich and has similar tones of a desert king. It's a medium sized fruit with Dark green and black coloration.

I've got a couple methods I use. Both seem to work really fast for rooting cuttings.

Oreo cookie method
http://seattlegardenfruit.blogspot.com/2015/06/how-i-root-fig-cuttings-with-80-success1.html

testing out another method for rooting cuttings. Perlite tunnel method

http://seattlegardenfruit.blogspot.com/2015/08/new-method-for-rooting-cuttings.html

These are recent up pots from Early to mid July cuttings. Which makes them anywhere from 5-8 weeks old (minus the taller air layer in the back)

prior to growing figs. I would've walked by one without even noticing. however now every where I travel I'm keeping an eye out for figs. It would be amazing to go to the Mediterranean in late summer. definitely on my bucket list.

Initially I thought this was a brunswick. I didnt get a photo of the leaves but now I'm not really sure. I think it maybe a Violetta, Vashion Violet or English Brown Turkey.

I believe these are brebas. The taste is rich, sweet, very figgy and had nice seed crunch. Ripens in Mid July.

Pulled off my first Peter's Honey yesterday. Is it generally this small? The taste lived up to the name. Super sweet honey like jam. Tough skin with a hint of honey dew. The overall flavor was just more sweet than anything else.

DK's get more yellow with ripeness and the interior stays a light red pinkish hue. They do not get the darker bottom hue.

My DKs look like this.
