Hey John, yes I bought 3 plants from the bearded lady one was supposed to be the same but purple the other two trees had green fruit so not sure if yours will be purple or the same as mine.

Dennis I did send cuttings to atleast 2 people in the east coast labbled as NGE#3 unk Dalmatia. Hopefully they will chime in.

Vladis thank you for the photos my unripe fruits had the same shape as yours and the first that ripened also looked like yours was not as dark as the one I posted pics of.

Chivas, I too believe Colasanti#3 and this fig I believe is dalmatie are one and the same I will take pictures of the plants today as a comparison.

Jdsfrance, yes the brebas were larger pulp was lighter in color and not as sweet but still good berry flavor.

The 3 other figs that ripened before this one were a little bit lighter in color but not too much but were just as syrupy. It ripened during a hot spell so could of just been a fluke? Unfortunately I do not have pictures of the other figs.

I will going to my fathers house in about an hr I will take pictures of this unk dalmatia and colasanti #3 for comparison.

Got this tree in 2011 locally it's origins is from Hvar island, Dalmatia, Croatia.

I believe it's the same as Dalmatie 1st image is when I purchased it 2nd photo shows dominant leaf last year I lost my tree this winter but my dad still has a small plant I will take better pics tomorrow.

Thanks Grant I missed allot last year while I was MIA. I never grew southern BT but had heard it was similar to Celeste. It also had a few breba but only one ripened.

the first pics are of the EBT EL and the figs all had that shape and size this one was the darkest one to be honest. The others were a little bit lighter in skin color pulp was the same.

This pic shows the lighter color on the airlayer I did earlier this year.


The Second pics I posted is of another EBT I purchased localy a couple years ago.

Frank this is what I did late may early June to bring some of my dead looking figs back to life at my dads house and boy did it work.

I also did this 2 years ago on a few figs to get a longer season and It does work, just try and make sure none of the plastic is touching the figs or it will start to rott with the condensation inside the bag.

Hey Akram, yes I agree with you my other English Brown Turkey is a whole other beast. I would never get rid of it. The EBT from Edible landscaping is not a real English brown turkey.

Bought this plant from edible landscaping in 2010 don't really remember if it ever fruited before this was tossed to the side as I was chasing fancy named figs. It resembles Celeste and tastes allot like Celeste is it Celeste? It is very hardy

My Dalmatie never grew too well to be honest, we had 3 weeks of -20C and colder figs can take a beating but this winter was cold and long. I do have an inground Colasanti #3 wich resembles and could possibly be Dalmatie I protected it as I always did with just burlap and a tarp and it had some damage but didn't die to the ground and is now a 6ft bush with atleast 10 branches.

Kerry, I still have Nardi Black, Enrico, EBT, Bebera Preta, Hollier, Desert King, Deleon, Vasilika Sika, O'Rourke, Smith, Florea, Hardy Chicago, Black Tuscan, Rosetta, Battaglia Green, Preto, Qila Saif, Lattarula, Kathleens Black, Pingo De Mel, Lampa Branca,VDB, BT-MD and a few others I cant remember right now.

I also have about 20 small plants I rooted this winter hopefully they survive this winter. A few new in the trials are cul Noir, Campaniere, Vidal, Longue Verte Daout, Pallas, Reculver, Salles.

Thank you Everyone for all the kind words and Offers really means allot to me, but for now I will have to pass as I need some time to figure out what I really want to grow.

I have a feeling this winter will be another cold one, so as a precaution everything will be going in my fathers garage.

I will try and answer all the questions when I get home as I am currently at work :)

Hey Joe, no worries my friend. Im in no rush to gather everything I think by 2016 I will have a better collection with less varieties but do appreciate your generosity. I still have 50-60 fig trees more than enough for now.

James, long time no chat hope all is well with you. Yes I do remember that, that was harsh I now know what it felt like not a good feeling . I like you am looking at what survived this darn horrible winter and giving those varieties a second change. Funny how the ones I didnt pay too much attention too survived.

Wills, you are right not just for myself but also for all the generous kind hearted forum members who went out of their way to send me allot of these varieties and most of the time not even wanting money for shipping or anything in return.

I paid for permits phyto sanitary certificates in north america and Europe to get rooted plants imported into Canada legaly allot of money time and effort spent on this addictive hobby. Even got MR Pierre Baud to drive 120 kms to get a phyto to ship to canada lol oh the good times.

This is the second time its happened to me, first time in 2010 when we got locked out of our office and the junked all the fig trees I had in there at the time atleast 70 that time.

Hi guys, I will eventually gather some of those variants back.

Thank you for the offers but for now I will relax with adding too much plus having 2 small kids and a 3rd to be born in the next 3-4 weeks is making growing figs even more difficult.

I have a few young plants now that I will trial in my climate won't be putting any in my shed that's for sure.

So I finally got the courage to gather my casualty list for last winter. Not sure how many other members lost allot of figs last winter but I lost most of mine. All of the following I had in my shed and didnt survive the brutal cold. Allot of hard work and time was spend to gather these cultivars and now gone just like that. otmani007- Yes Adriano is the name of this fig its a mutation or sport of Pingo de Mel.

Hey Paul you ever get main crop to ripen? Main crop is better tasting than Breba but breba is also tasty.

I grew this variety for 4 years along side Dusan's bronze Paradiso and found no difference both started showing severe fmv and died last winter. Very good flavored figs and very productive.

Hey Paul, your Brunswick looks good I agree with the flavor of Brunswick. Under ideal climates it is a great tasting fig even when I had mine same issues under wet weather they split and soured as did greek Kephlonia and Doree all three are very good.

The top end is pulled down to the ground and buried , the picture that shows the trunks those are covered with an A frame simply two sheets of plywood with insulation foam on the inside over the trunks and a tarp over the A frame. This past winter we had temps that reached -40 celcius.

Desert king is underrated in the northeast, Adrianos tree produces hundreds of brebas every year flavor is outstanding also can compete with allot of fancy named figs.

On rare occasions it can ripen a few main crop figs but not many.

Harvey there is only one Laradek fig. It is a strain of English Brown Turkey that has survived some very harsh cold winters in the Czech republic and still ripened fruit.


Laradek, EBT Laradek & English Brown Turkey (Laradek) or Laradek's Englisht brown turkey is some of the variations I have seen the last 5 years of this fig.

I agree figo branca does not make allot of sence. Figueira Branca or figo Branco yes.

I received cuttings in late 2009 simply labelled Branca from Sue, figs are tasty and huge.

In 2011 through some trades with a private collector in france I obtained a white genoa that resembled this fig quite a bit anyone else growing a white genoa that has the Figo Branca compared them to each other?

Francisco , growing up in Madeira cotios were the most common dry fig we had in the market and I remember certain times of year during the festa do Espírito Santo eating lots of these.

They look really good fresh another plant I lost sadly over winter.
