Hi Leon, my EBT just broke dormancy about 4 weeks ago I'm happy it's alive but worried it's running out of time to harden off new growth a real shame too as this is my personal favorite all around fig.

Leon this was my favorite white fig last season great flavor and productive. It took 3 years to ripen figs but it was definately worth the wait.

Lovely pics Francisco. I knew carvalhal was a San Pedro type but never though it was the same as lampeira. Unfortunately I lost my Lampa preta this winter but am rooting some Lampa Branca so far so good.

Also rooting some lampeira cuttings from France hope it's a real lampeira.

Also had the lampeira Harvey mentioned but never ripened any main crop for me the three seasons I had it.

Tam very good questioned you asked. Personally I have to say of all the pingo de Mel figs I grow they are very similar to peters honey/ kadota possibly the same or atleast related.

I have grown 3 kadotas from different sources some had mostly single and 3 lobed leaves the others 5 lobed also pulp varied in color from amber to carmin( rosey ). Size also differed for example kadota from grimonut produces lots of brebas compared to kadota from Monrovia wich rarely produces brebas.

I have a pingo de Mel from Madeira

Pingo de Mel from jardicentro online

I have two other ones that are young and have not fruited yet from the north in Porto and south algarve.

It would be funny if all 4 are different.

Oh tam here is peters honey from Monrovia

Hope that helps

I was fortunate enough to grow up eating these from a mature tree when I lived in Madeira. To be able to have my own now is a blessing thanks to Sue for discovering the tree in point Loma and sharing it with us.

What other figs are in the same league well so far the only one that comes close out of my own plants is bourjassote noire although I enjoyed the preto more but both are worth having and excellent tasting IMO.

Dust, I purchased this plant in 2010 as a 1 year old plant this season was the first time it ripened a fig.

James I too had Doree from dany it's a different fig I believe I grew it for 2 years leaves were very different I junk it eventually and only kept the one from baud.

Feigenbaum, yes it is a dwarf type grows mostly horizontal even when you prune it the new growth seems to grow to the sides instead of upward like most other figs.

Akram hope you get to taste it.

John , yes tastes as good as it looks the flavor is outstanding.

James hard to explain the flavor one of the better figs I have sampled thus far.

Francisco all my plants are out in the open no real shelter from the cold or winds or rain but I did manage to ripen a few late cultivars and tasted extremely good.

I wish I had a greenhouse to get them to start earlier.

Hi Leon, this is a young plant and it's impressive considering how young it is.

My EBT I would rate it 9/10 in flavor this little guy more like a 6.

EBT can compete with allot of fancy named figs.

James so far any fig I had this season that was syrupy was great tasting. I have allot of plants in 2 gallon pots that are root bound and it's tough when I know they require water but yet it will affect the taste.

Could this be weather related? I know figs that ripened in late aug and early sept were not that juicy.

Kind of weird how the cool nights has been making the figs taste fantastic maybe the trees know winter is near and want to ripen its fruits?

OMG, extremely sweet aromatic one of the best figs this season definately earned a spot.

Very syrupy, wish I could described it better but my taste buds just got a whopping.

Martin this one came from France and I also had a violette de sollies from France the only difference I found while growing both was violette de sollies had mostly 5 lobed leaves and my bourjassote noire has mostly 3 lobed and serrated leaves.

This is the violette de sollies leaf I had I died over winter good thing I had given my dad a little plant last year.

Oh Wow Dennis that's horrible, it was hard to look at.

Heres a funny story that will cheer you up, about 15-16 years ago the neighbours had a raccoon family living under their basement one morning their rotweiller got sprayed by a skunk right in the morning in the back yard and boy did he go nuts I noticed he was digging against the house and was like ok this dog is retarted.

Anyhow I went to school but due to a cold came home at lunch I looked in the neighbours backyard to check on the dog and it looked like a warzone there was a huge pile of dirt where he was digging and the hole was massive and dead raccoons all over the backyard. Those raccoons used to make a huge mess stealing our plums and our neighbours grapes guess they had it coming.

On a good note the dog was fine and we lived happily ever after.

Hi Paul, yes theres atleast 2 conadrias or more who knows. This was a gift from Adriano a couple seasons back very productive and great tasting figs specially when the temps start to drop go figure. PS after I posted this thread I went through my notes again and noticed I had purchased another Conadria from figsforlife out in BC so I went outside to check and sure enough its there no figs though but I will compare the two next season and see if they are the same.

Michael leave that sucker on there for another couple days the stem will eventually loosen up and you will notice the fig drop even more this one also started to get some skin cracks when I lifted the fig it came right off the tree. This trick does not work on Pane E Vino white or White triana if your not carefull with those two you might rip off bark and all lol.

Francisco, this was the first one I sampled and if they are generally this good then its a very very good white fig.

Elin , my parents recently moved and now my dad lives one block away I can walk there and enjoy his figs while hes at work lol I have allot of my plants at their house and they eat them as they ripen I have no problems with that. Worst part is my dad rubs it in all the time when he eats figs from my trees I haven't sampled yet and says how good they are and that he started an airlayer.
