George the AF is from Adriano, it produces allot of brebas double the size of vdb from edible landscaping also main crop is generally bigger and more prolific.

Also ripens breba 2 weeks earlier and it ripens most of main crop.

James I unwrapped the tree later this year and it didn't help me at all. Plant broke dormancy 3rd week of may last year I had brebas forming early April. My inground blk Marseilles is starting to ripen now as well wich usually starts ripening late aug to early sept.

Next season I will unwrap them mid march like I have in the past.

Most o my figs in general are atleast 2-3 weeks behind this season

Tyler it's a dependable variety and tasty does real well in southern Ontario.

Hi James I too have been fighting with ants and wasps on this tree they have been driving me nuts..

Francisco these were picked from my potted tree but I do grow this variety inground. It's atleast 3-4 weeks behind this year.

Pete I thought I had taken a pic of the eye but I didn't. Eye is small but somewhat open I will take pics of the other figs as they ripen this one also seems to have a longer neck than the others on the plant.

This tree is in it's second season.

Pete, you are absolutely right I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. Truly is an excellent flavored fig and sweet can only imagine what it's like in an ideal climate.

First adriatic of the season I only wish it was like five times the size flavor is outstanding.

There are more ripening now and will be bigger but they do seem smaller this year for some reason probably because its been in the same pot for 3 seasons.

Thanks everyone, the flavor well this has been a bad year and thecool weather is not allowing the figs to taste it's best but even then, it was like a cross between a mission and vdb.

Francisco I believe the bêbera Branca I have from Madeira is actually a form of pingo de Mel I know the pics you posted are of the real Bebera Branca i think for the most part the fig we call bêbera Branca in Madeira might be dotatto main difference I found between the pingo de Mel I have and bêbera Branca and kadota is mostly the pulp color my bêbera Branca has carmine pulp while the other two have more of an amber color pulp bêbera Branca is by far the sweetest and drips honey from then ostiole when fully ripe.

This is a great looking fig, good find Tam.

As mentioned before gota de Mel and pingo de Mel do mean the exact same thing thing drop of honey.

Regardless both are are generally the same and honey figs with amber to carmine pulp.

This is something else looks great what ever it is.

Ps it is possible it's known as such in that particular town.

You should ask them where in Portugal this fig originated from.

Hey Grant, Mario purchased his plant from Adriano either 2009/10 but it was mislabeled.

I'm not sure what it is but what ever it is it originated from Adrianos collection.

Hi James, no I have not planted Norella inground but might eventually. I too have found colasanti dark has not been as sweet as other years this darn weather doesn't help either but Norella has been outstanding although they are a tad smaller than colasanti dark in size but make up in flavor.

Paul I'm glad you liked the moscatel preto one of my favorites and I'm thinking of putting it inground one day.

Norella is by far my best mt etna type fig as much as I like the colasanti dark the norella is by far superior in taste. Ate 2 dozen with my daughter today she loves them.

Francisco this fig came from Porto I'm not sure why they call it that up north because moscatel preto and bêbera preta are generally the same this is a different fig and not inferior in anyway.

Paul it is very productive for me and if ripened during hot dry weather it is among the best figs I have tasted.

Thanks everyone, It does have one of those white greek, stella, dalmatie or vasilika sika sort of appearance and could possibly be one of them. My inground tree ripened one fig very late last year around Halloween and didn't taste anything special as far as I can remember but then again nothing did that time of year. It is very hardy my tree was 3 months old from being rooted when it went inground and wrap it with burlap and tarp and no die back but it does take some time to fruit for some reason.

I will take some pics of the ripe fruit.

Hey Eli, things are a bit better just started a new job 3 weeks ago so far so good.
