Its calling for rain all day today so I decided to do a little harvest this morning
this is what i came up with
these are Collisanti White Brebas
they are prety good just enough sweetness and fig flavour and juicy
if picked at the right time they are vary good

 Its an Unknown white (Italian Honey) that I call Jasmine after my niece the tree a vary prolific but the fruit is good but not like the Colasanti  here are some of the pictures

It may be my zone, your welcome to have some cutting to try in your climate it will probably do well there

I don't have a pressure cooker but I can boil it that should rid it of nasties
I never though of the bug eggs that could possibly be in the moss
I think that will work

That's really to bad
I didn't know that you could get infected from something like moss
Just yesterday it was warm by warm it was 10 degrees Celsius I was walking the bush and came across a patch of long moss I decided to pick some up and was going to try to dry it and use it for rooting
now with this  Sporotrichosis stuff I'm a little concerned it may be infected
it doesn't look like it as any kind of molds that is at least visible if i dry it in the oven would that kill any type of fungi that is in it I just don't want it to turn into powder if I force dry-it
or should i just trash it

Thank you to all that answered the post and don't worry Debbie your a winner if you like cuttings I will be happy to send you some,you to Luke you can have some as well anybody else are welcome to cuttings as long as I have them I will be pruning these trees down quite a bit should be able to accommodate a few people

its not a Marseilles White I have a Marseilles and its not the same fig
the fruit the leaf and the taste are vary different

I named this one Unknown Jasmine white 
I got the cuttings from my brother  he as lost the original
when vary ripe its like sugar and vary sweet just melts in your mouth
juicy not watery
one of my earliest figs main crop figs in first week of July in the last couple of years 

 This other one i call it Unknown Vince Coffee man
go tit from the Coffey truck driver from the Job site hes an older Italian man that
got it from Italy I tried getting more information from Him but he was always in a bit of a hurry to get to is next site
its a vary nice solid fig looks like Strawberry Jam inside and tastes almost like it
the tree as Mosaic but is a vary good producer
main crop middle of August

the last one I got from a follow named John he sell figs not to far from me he as this huge tree I never seem to find him at home to talk to him and ask him about the history of the tree it also came from Italy that's about all |I can remember from my first meeting with him
the fig is absolutely one of the best tasting figs i have in my collection The taste and texture is just amazing vary sweet and smooth
on Goats cheese and a cracker its something like not of this world the wife  calls it heavenly 

this is the longest post I have written ever I apologize

Sharing is one thing but these little pishers are getting the best out of my figs and they just spoil then

I think its Mice they know the right time to get them
the other pest i been having are the hornets they to can eat a fig in a couple of hours

This year i have a new dislike for Ants ,Hornets and Mice
goto think of how to get them to just eat there share and leave me some

Can't really blame them figs are Delicious

They did vary good this year Nelson
i have it inground in the greenhouse and it just flushed with fruit they weer vary juicy and sweet
the problem I've been having is with Ants they are nasty little things they can ruin alot of fruit just as they are ready
Are you renaming your Colasanti to Ficazana maybe you should wait till you see the fruit it might be a little different 

Hey Nelson your Colasanti Dark is it a small fig the tree I have only put out two figs and they are tiny the white are huge

But a Megacelest that is an impressive name
it did vary well for me the fruit is vary good i can really describe it right now it was sweet and good tasting not the least bit sour

 Herman said he doesn't have a tree named after him this one is and it will stay as Herman's Unknown till someone can tell me otherwise
This cutting was sent to me in January of 2010 from a vary generous member of this forum with this label on it and its the only cutting out of the three that survived, its now a nice three footer and it put out a couple of main crop figs

I tried something different this year
I didn't bother to wash or bleach any of the cuttings
I put them into a potting soil mixture that I had around
they are all rooting vary well so far 100% of the sticks have rooted and no sign of mold on any of them
this was just an experiment and it worked for me this time
it seems to me that if the right moisture and temperature surrounds the cutting it will take root
I've tried all other methods they all worked to one degree or another
just my two cents

Ed this fig didn't have any cavity it was solid throughout
it may be possible that its not a BT

Akram I was pretty sure that it said FTM and Not BTM I'm going to re-label them 2 of the 3 cuttings survived

It was one that Akram sent me marked Herman's Unknown along with some that was labeled FTM I'm curious to see what the FTM's are going to look like when they bare this season maybe we will be able to compare with the donner plant 
I'm looking forward to this Season with most of the trees in there second full season    
Can't wait for Spring to arrive

I'm no expert but i think that there may be a possibility that the cutting could dry up I've tried something similar
I put some cuttings in cups with the tops exposed and they dried up on top and rot in the bottom
unless the humidity is high a lot of the moisture from the stick will evaporate
i would put those containers in a bigger container to hold the humidity around the cutting
I could be wrong but I didn't have any luck with the wood exposed

Eastern, Southern English is there much diference ?

I didn't have the quarter for size comparison
it was a good size for a first year

I also have a cutting that was labeled Herman's Unknown
by the person that send it to me, it didn't put out any fruit yet

Herman would you know if its a light or dark fig ?

I have been picking the figlets off the trees as they show up
in the hopes that the bigger figs get to ripen
but the trees just keep on shooting them up
My question is will this effect the breba crop next year?
Last year I left the figlets on the tree they stayed on all winter and a good part of Spring but never got any bigger and then just fell off

Anyone else doing this ?

Linda: I have a small greenhouse that I keep just above freezing over winter
and it worked vary well for me last winter I had a least a month head start

The poor plants are taking a beating the gusts get up to 60 MPH I don't get
this kind of weather around here vary often
its vary cold the high today is 55 F big drop from yesterday which got to 80
and the last few days it was in the 90's

The wind is blowing at thirty miles and hour its
blowing my trees all over the place
well not all over just tipping them on there side but its knocking figs out
well this is one of the figs that got knocked off
and one of the leaves
check it out is this the ridges that you are referring to

I have what looks like the same tree here
i got from a cutting and it was labeled Negronne
but it sure looks like the same with the coulored
figs its a good producer this is this years cutting and it was
a few figs on it with any luck I will taste then\m this year still

It sure is nice and sweet and melts in your mouth
I can eat half dozen of these and still want more

Al: the leaves are mainly three lobed I did take a picture of them
this is what they look like

Jason: the pictures that you show are vary similar to the figs I saw I will have to go back and take some more pictures of this tree
I'm still going with Al's Sicilian red for now until I see more ripe figs

Akram: you always have a compromise Red Brown Turkey in a worst case scenario it will be Red Brown Turkey

fits this fig I think that he said that the Original tree came from Sicily

Grant: I tasted this fig and it was sweet but mild and juicy fig flovor 
he keeps is fig tree well watered I told him to hold back on the water a little to let the soil dry up a bit before watering again

But overall its is one nice looking fruit there are a few more figs on the tree and I will be visiting a little more often for the next couple of weeks if you know what I mean
the tree needs a bit of pruning so there will be a number cuttings I will be keeping a couple and one other member will also be getting some if there are anyone else interested in a couple of cuttings please let me know i will try to get you some

Yesterday I went to a friends house for a visit
we got talking about figs
I didn't know that he to had a fig tree he says that its about
five or six years old and he got it from and older co-worker that had retired and was moving to a condo and couldn't take the figs he had with him
anyway we where talking about figs and the different varieties and he begged me to find out what this one is
I took some pictures of it and told him I would post it in the Fig Forum and someone will probably knows what its called
there will be a few cuttings coming out of this tree its one nice looking fig
love the colour

Nelson the leaves that you show are vary much the same as mine
is you tree a fast grower
cause this one i have grew about four feet this summer so far and a good producer
if you have the same tree you will be happy with it and the figs are nice and large
not as big as the Excel i have but vary close

My tree came from Adriano
and they are vary large and sweet kinda like you said Nelson
and it was loaded this year I pinched and just about every nod produced a fruit
The only thing is that they get so large they split but I don't mine so much they are great tasting

What variant is this fig
My wife bought it from an Italian food store
the label on it said it was an Italian fig and under ideal conditions
it may bear fruit
I recall seeing the same label posted in this forum
if anyone as one of the same and knows what its called
