Thanks DJ and Jon. Now I know.

We had two more breba with the potential for seveL more and I must admit that Adriatic GB is VERY good. It has a slight crunch and it consistent in size and flavor. If it offers good figs this early - even if breba with no promise of a main crop - next season, then I will say it is a keeper. There has been minimal rain so there is still much to learn.

Thanks Bob. It appears as if there are about 10 fruit that are determining whether or not they want to ripen. It rained heavy this evening so I should have another data point. If it provides 10+ breba of similar quality, it is definitely worth keeping.

Hopefully, Jon and/or Grasa will answer your question. I am out of touch with respect to the current/updated name of this fig (if it has been changed). It was an unknown and Grasa found it and believes it to be Adriatic. Hence the name. I briefly outline my history with this fig in the link included in post #1.

Unknown Adriatic Grasa | Breba. The date of the first breba was 27 May 2014 last season. Talk about consistency. Although it was not the first breba of the 2015 season - Narragansett #43 holds that distinction - it was rich, juicy and sweet. With little rain and cooler than normal temperatures, it is thriving this season. As it was in 2014, maturing a main crop is the question. For my records, climate and taste buds, JH Adriatic is different and better than Unknown Adriatic Grasa. Grasa has this one excellent breba and I hope it has a main crop this season...or else.

Marius has posted photos from his LSU Black and it had an amber colored pulp similar to what CajunB stated. I have also been told that Jon (pitangadiego) also has and distributes LSU Black.

CajunB and Jon, Will one or both of you please post photos of their amber-pulped LSU Black?

Questions for Marius, CajunB and Jon: What is the origin/source of your LSU Black? Would either of you care to sell or swap a layer or cuttings?

Good to hear...that you have the proper mindset and confidence to get better. Also good to hear (but much less important) that you have Scott's Black. It is good. MVS Black is a prolific fig producer but not superior tasting to my buds. Pananas Purple or NdA?

I wish I could tell you there was or was not a difference between PO Adriatic and JH Adriatic. I cannot and the only other Adriatic I have is one from Grasa that 'might could' produce a few figs this season.

You have a good looking collection of fig starts. When you have a chance, I would love to see your mango orchard. If I recall correctly, you have shown a diverse harvest of mangoes in a few posts.

Here in 8B, VdB is much more vigorous than PN. VdB has also been more productive although I prefer the flavor of PN.

Bass has been promoting Pawpaw for as long as I have been a F4FF member. This is for you Bass. As mentioned in the article, it has an avocado consistency with a mango-banana flavor profile is an accurate description according to my taste buds.

And good that Harvey is using it. I am not sure I can identify the pessimism in your post but...(cough cough) I prefer a high likelihood of scammage and take issue with having to read not-so-gentle-buzz-killing reminder when I am salivating and overly optimistic about purchasing rare international cuttings at my own risk on eBay from an unknown seller that I cannot vet on the forums. Please stop it. I prefer the blue pill...but then that is my modus operandi.

Thanks Frank. This is always my time to recharge, heal (when necessary), rake leaves, make compost, and plant leafy green vegetables as the fig leaves fall and fruit trees go dormant. So not much posting but reading threads that I have missed.

When ripe, the uncaprified develop purple veins. If you have the opportunity, leave on the tree for three more days and post the photos. I would LOVE to see that.

I think it looks very good because it looks very good. How did it taste?
It looks as if the shape, size, and open cavity are a match. The skin color is darker than I have seen, however, it will be different in your climate for a variety of reasons. 

I have had a few Socorro Black figs. They were very good as usual and the slight acidity was good. No photos for a variety of reason. The primary reason is lack of figs to photograph due to the squirrels - they have devoured so many ripe figs as well as unripe Socorro Black (and JH Adriatic) figs or just pulled them off.

Bissiri #1 was introduced to me by Ricci (Thanks). Barry has started the handful of threads that detail its history (Thanks). In these threads [1][2][3], Barry tells the story, posts photos of ripe fruit, and shares a means to distinguish between Bissri#1 and Bissiri #2 which is how Ricci labeled them originally. I received two cuttings from Ricci in November 2010 and then three cuttings from him jn December 2012. All five cuttings survived. I gave a couple away and neglected the others until this season. I moved one of them into a self-watering container and another into a 14" tree pot. I guess they are happy to be alive, no longer neglected, and determined to procreate. Here's why: Bissiri #1 seems to be a prolific, and quite possibly a mid-late season fig. So I took a few photos (from both the container and the treepot) to capture the growing habits of and add to the information about it.
