Hey Paul, I will post pictures when I get home of the Tiberio fig also know in spain as Lampaga.

It is Lampa Preta AKA Lampeira. I will snap some pics out of the book I have at home.

IF Anyone else has this book just look it up

Subject: Pingo de Mel is synonym to Moscatel (white) - is it really? Replies: 7

I'm Glad you brought this topic up Jaime. I believe the majority of all the Bêbera branca figs in Madeira are moscatel Branco. They are green to greenish yellow with carmine pulp
To reddish pulp. Majority of the Pingo de Mel figs have lighter coloured pulps atleast usually.

i also had 2 moscatel Branco trees from braga and Porto but had Amber pulp and were closer to a lattarula in appearance but ripened earlier.

Your moscatel Branco looks like my great grandfathers bêbera branca or atleast as it is called locally in Madeira.

Hi Kyle with your climate you can grow anything I have grown with better success at ripening. I believe frozenjoe lives your way he would be your best bet to ask.

Jdsfrance

I do have figs on my tree this year none have ripened yet but they do look small. On my dads plant they look weird also.

It sort of looks like hava wich baud has and is a Smyrna.
But if I'm Not mistaken it's got mostly single lobed leaves.

Dennis, I received my plant as Nero Barnissote but like Herman had mentioned on that previous post my figs are medium to small brownish figs. Flavor was ok similar to a celeste and seemed pretty resistant to rain I gave it away this past season as it just not good enough for me to waste time on.

Dave, every summer when my dad is out in the backyard sipping his sacramento wine as he calls it within minutes of putting the wine glass down gnats will go in the cup. I haven't tried it myself yet but think I might just to see I have sticky strips but that dosent really take care of the problem just captures the stupid ones.

This is why I generally root cuttings in sphagnum moss & Pine bark as I have not noticed any gnat issues when I use this method. But I have noticed quite a few flying around in my basement where I have a few small plants soil used was pro-mix.

A very productive plant. So far I have grown Adrianos Paradiso, Dusan's Bronze Paradiso, Bronze Paradiso VS, Genes Paradiso & Paradiso Nero purchased locally.

The Paradiso Nero & Adriano's paradiso were identical in everyway both suffered from fmv pretty bad although they were extremely productive I eventualy gave them both away.

Dusan's Bronze paradiso was very productive and tasty but with time the fmv got the best of it and it eventually died last winter as did Gene's & Bronze Paradiso VS.

As for my taste buds I would say Gene's Paradiso & Bronze Paradiso Vs were better tasting although Dusans bronze paradiso came close but had a different flavor profile.

I was already annoyed with some common types that didn't fruit didn't want to keep something for years and eventually it be a caprifig or Smyrna so I gave it to someone who wanted to do a bonsai. I also had a few mission and kadota seedlings that shared the same faith.

Ohhhhh Ok, that makes sense lol. You take good care of those babies never know what the end result will be.

I grew this from a seed of some Turkish dried figs I eventually got rid of it.

Hi Eli , a couple years ago I also had khurtmani and it too looked like yours purple fruits and mostly 5 lobed some 3 lobed leaves not typical Brunswick leaves this is why I never thought they were the same. I got mine originally from Adriano I will try to find photos on my photobucket acc.

Hi joe, bogisota is very similar to English brown turkey the other fig posted above is the same as bourjassote from what I have been told by more than one spanish source but do agree it looks allot like preto.

Then again Madeira island is only 500 km from the Canary Islands.

Vasile have you ever gotten ripe breba from your ital 258?

I have not personally grown this fig yet but looks like something I want I try in the future.

Wow those figs look great Vasile, I lost all my coll de dames this past winter and am a little hesitant on replacing simply because of late ripening. I only sampled one coll de dame Blanc in 2013 and it was knee buckling good. With that being said I think I need to get me another coll de dame lol. My coll de dame grise grew like a weed the blanc was also a good grower the noire suffered from fmv quite a bit and struggled quite a bit for 3 seasons.

Greg in 2011 and 2012 it was left outside in the pot and it survived the winter wil minimal damage. Last winter it was in my dads garage right beside the door the 5 plant next to it all died and this one had no damage at all. The 5 that died were a 5 year old kadota, 4 year old black Marseilles, 4 year old white Marseilles, 5 year old moscatel preto and 4 year old hardy Chicago.

Mine was a dull pinkish color.

I'm sure the pulp color is due to cold nights.
