rdB:
dark, small to medium size, early ripening main crop, strong berry flavor, actually only main crop but in some years a few brebas, strong grower/big tree(not mentioned for st.rita)


anyone grows both?

I heard it need two plants(different clones) to set fruit. can someone confirm this?
I'm just having one plant which isn't a good grower and no flower till yet.

for me size does not matter. except I´d have to buy figs per piece for the same price...
ronde der bordeaux tastes very good compared to others. very spicy, especially the skin. RdB fruits weigh 30-40g and have the size of a ping-pong ball.

sure slow growing varieties look dwarf and dwarf varieties are slow growing.
small sized fig trees dont grow 2m in one season and then stop growing for the next years.
I have an old ronde de bordeaux in my garden, it's definitely not suited for small spaces, even with pruning. its HUGE. baud lists RdB as 5-7m in diameter and 3-5m in height.

I consider dwarf figs as slow growing but healthy(no FMV) with short internodes, and therefore bearing good crops. lets add such figs to my list!

which varieties do you consider as dwarf? (compared to other figs at the same age and grown under same conditions)
pierre baud lists the following three as 2,5-4m diamter and 2-3m height:

dalmatie (2 crops: 120-150g, 100-120g)
pastiliere (1 crop: 50-60g)
doree (2 crops: 100g, 70-80g)

please add your experiences to this dwarf list!

this fig has also this "being reddish" gene, leaf stems and nerves, fruit stems, BUDS, twigs and maybe something else.
does your found fig have red buds?

today I ate the one and only breba of my negronne. actually I forgot it and found it today dried on the tree.
very delicious!

yes, its important not to put the tea tree oil on the leaves!
yesterday I treated my cuttings with it, today some leaves look wilted/burned.

I used tea tree oil for mold control with success!
some cuttings shwed mold after they were already potted(I assume with no roots). I put pure tea tree oil onto the moldy areas (directly above soil or on their tips) drop by drop. some cuttings needed more than one treatment, but it worked!

I have no experience with treating whole cuttings with tea tree oil. I think with my method just a small part of the cutting was covered with oil.
try it!
better not lose a cutting due to mold AND tea tree oil treatment than lose a cutting due to mold WITHOUT any treatment. I think cuttings cant heal themselves from mold...
