Herman,

This is my first year of growing fig tree, your OP was very helpful. Regarding the color of fruit, my supposedly Black Mission and Black Jack trees (planted May 2011) had their first crop last month but during stage 3 they were yellowish white, is it possible for these cultivar to be in this color?.

Thanks.

quick update, trees are doing good so far, VDB seem to be top heavy, is there anyway to make it branch at the bottom?.

ya, it went right through my area, it didn't touch down though, it picked up 18 wheeler's and blew them around.  What sucks is I took pictures of my yard and tree's yesterday to document their progress and this happens today. I got 6 different fig plants (VDB, LSU Black, LSU Purple, O'Rourke, Peter's Honey and Petitie Negri) 3 weeks back and setup sub irrigation and was all excited for this year. sucks.

Yes it's one chunk, all the white stuff that's in below picture are chunks of that size, 90% of them are base ball size.

bark got stripped of on my VDB, can I do something to make it heal?.

Had a bad day today, hail messed up all my figs trees, wondering what I could do to nurse them back up. The bark got damaged on some of them, can I put something on the bark so it helps it heal?. Some got broken, can I root the broken pieces?.

Dennis,
I thought negronne is another name for VDB (http://www.durionursery.biz/figs.htm  and http://figs4fun.com/Info/Info_Violette_de_Bordeaux.html),  how come you have listed them as different?

I am new fignut, so excuse me if this is common knowledge, but why would you buy the tree in november when it's dormant instead of feb or march when you can have tree which is out of dormancy and you don't have to worry about storing/protecting for winter?.

I got them exactly two months back, guess I was late in ordering them. They didn't have any leaves when I planted them, hopefully they will survive and grow next year.

I put some Osmocote few days back and wanted to put miracle grow all purpose today but the guy at HD said I shouldn't be putting it now as it's already too hot and I might kill it because of some nitrogen thing.

It's almost 100C daytime and 80C night time.

Unfortunately I bought and planted stuff before educating myself enough about fig plant sources. I bought 2 fig plants from willis orchard couple of months back instead of people over in this forum and gardenweb. Can somebody here please help identifying if these plants are what willis orchards tagged them as?. The leaves seem little different but I wasn't sure.

P.S Also got couple 2' fig plants from lowe's (1 brown turkey - dead and 1 Kadota). navid helped me in the other forum in taking care of kadota.

Good thing they didn't sell/move them. That would be so unnatural and unfair.
