Tamar - I'm thrilled to know the plant made it just fine. I hope it will do well for you.
Jason - Thank you for the kind words.
Jules - Best of luck. :-)

I'm still experimenting with my packing method. If you bought a plant from me and have problems with my packing/shipping or have any tips to improve my method please do let me know.

That's me. :-). If you look at my previous buyer feedbacks you will see that I bought many cuttings from eBay. Almost all are from reputable sellers (George, Marius, Hermansur to name a few). Most made it. So I'm trying to get some of my money back by selling my duplicates. I've traded or given away some of the cuttings/plants here as well.

Side note: All plants that I'm selling on eBay are not from trades or gifts from any members here.

Pete, the one I picked had a somewhat open eye. I don't know if that is the norm since I only had 1 fruit.

Thanks Goss.

Daniel - Just rabbit manure and lime. Well, one time I also sprayed it with miraclegrow.
Bob - Thanks for the tips. I'm glad I still have many left on the Atreano branch to experiment. I only had 1 Yellow Lebanese to try.

Ed,

Now that is ripe.. or maybe too ripe?? I have a few more on the tree to experiment. I know some varieties are best to pick after they shriveled a little.

Dear #######,

Congratulations on the purchase of a great plant which are on their way
We use screws to secure the plant within the box. Please use a Phillips head screw driver to remove the screws starting with the screw on the bottom of the box then all four sides. Carefully remove the plant which may be stressed from the trip. Water the plant deeply until water drains from the bottom. Place the plant outside in a shading area that does NOT receive direct sun. If the plant doesn’t show signs of stress than you can gradually move it to spots that have an increasing amount of sun. Your plant is well rooted and needs to be potted up. If you pot your plant up follow the steps when you unpack the plant. Which is transplant, water deeply, place in an area that doesn’t receive direct sun. If the plant doesn’t show signs of stress move to area of increasing sunlight until it is in a full sun location. I recommend that you look in the fig forum for Dr Al Tapla’s fast draining soil recipe. Thanks

Yellow Lebanese. It was grown from cutting this past winter. It was from Marius. Excellent flavor and Very sweet. I don't know if I picked it too early or not. I'm still learning to time it just right.

Atreano. It was bought as a plant from johnsvmf1 last October, I think. Sweet, but not as sweet as Yellow Lebanese. Maybe I should leave it to ripen a little longer. Very good flavor and crunchy. My friend describe it as... creamy??

Howie,

This past June has been very warm and humid in south Arkansas. I got the plant right before winter. It was almost a foot tall. Freeze killed most of the green woods until about 6in of good hardened wood left above the soil. When spring came, sicilian black and atreano outgrew everything else in the yard.

I use a mix of compost, perlites, peat moss, pine nuggets, and rabbit manures for all the plants and 60% perlites, 40% compost and small nuggets to root the cuttings.

Thank you. The double bucket works exactly like Bill's pots but smaller and cheaper. However, you may only be able to keep the plant in them for a couple of years before they outgrow the bucket.

Steve - The disease is very contagious :). Those trees will be staying in pots. Photo #6 is Atreano. This past winter the freeze almost killed it. It only had about 5-6 inches of good wood left. But comes spring, it grows like it was on steroid. I think it is still less than a year old.

I gave them a healthy serving of rabbit poo with a sprinkle of pelletized lime (soil doctor) on top. Yummy... A few of them also had some compost tea. They seem to like it.

Thanks y'all for the kind words.

Peter - those self watering pots have been great. I only have to top the water about once in 6-7 days. For bigger plants I may have to water once in 3-4 days.

Navid - Thank you for your advise. I'm actually still experimenting of how I want the plant to look like and which will work best for me. I do like this a lot.

Trust me! I think those that sold for that price got caught up in a bidding frenzy and didn't think others like them place an outragous high bid. It happened to me years ago bidding on a computer. And today, I don't even use the darn thing! If you ever got one of those trees that you paid over 200 for, I can assure you, you won't be impressed by what you taste! In other words, once you taste it, you probably won't be happy when you taste it and ask yourself if the fig was worth what you paid! Man, just live and love those figs that you have. Ronde de Bordeaux, Black Maderia, Atreano, Strawberry, Improved Celeste, Tacoma Violet, De La Senyora, Emerald Strawberry, Panachee, Toni's Brown Italian, LSU Champagne, Marseiles White & Black, Hardy Chicago, Kathleen Black, and many many others are worth 200 bucks in my opinion. I did not pay that much for one tree but I did pay 150 for a Black Maderia about 5yrs ago, and one day the darn tree just die on me! But, in my mind Black Maderia is one of the best tasting black figs, IMHO. It just taste like none other. So, having said that, just enjoy those figs that you have. Don't worry about the high dollar ones. Eat more figs, make lots of friiends and share the knowledge you've learned about the figs growing in your area. Good day! cheers,

I second that!

I started my fig venture in September of 2012 with only 8 plants that I acquired from eBay and Encanto (Jon). After reading tons of information and asking questions on this forum, I finally had enough courage to root my own cuttings this winter. My sincere thanks to Figs 4 Fun family and Jon for creating this forum for all of us figs addict to gather. I couldn't have done it without you guys.
