Tinyfish, a few comments to help. You said you use sand on top of the rooting medium to keep gnats out of it. What I do is clean the cuttings with soap before trying to root them, to avoid mold and gnats. I use the perforated cup method with Rockwool and a mix of around 90% perlite and 10% seedling potting mix. I never tested your rooting media mix but if it keeps too much water it's not good. I also use rooting hormone. I use a big clear plastic bin with a cover which I put over a heat mat, the heat helps for rooting. I also use a spray for watering, this way I better control the quantity of water I give the cuttings as over watering can kill them.

Hey Tyler, is your tree coming from Brugmansia qc? I was wondering if what they are selling is true to type and the same thing.

I do the same and often store my fig trees in the garage at the end of summer when they still have leaves. As mentioned without much lights the leafs will fall within a few weeks.

Thanks for the info Pino. I bought the same tree from the same source, it didn't fruit yet but I think it will go to fig heaven. It's the third time this happens with this source... I also have Ronde de Bordeaux and Grise de St-Jean from them, do you have these and know if it is the right variety?

Bone meal helps for root development. I use it and I think it is good as everything starts from the roots.

Really interesting, I rooted severall cuttings this year and I used the rockwool method with rooting hormone on cuttings which had more than 3 nodes. I got really good results and almost all of them rooted in a short period.
