These past few winters have been exceptional. The tiny ones I have in water bottles will have to be house plants this coming winter. Keeping my fingers cross for a mild winter..

You are right Jdsfrance. I have a shed, but I'm afraid to go in there. So I guess if I want figs, that's where they will be this winter.

Checking on my trees a few weeks ago, I noticed nothing happening. No leafs, no growth nada. I scratched the bark and no green. I had 4 trees that would've given me figs this year, but they are dead and gone. Sigh, the winters have been rough. I pulled out my largest tree with no effort. The roots were gone. The others pretty much the same. I did put them in the fig burial ground just in case. But I think they're done. Maybe next year. I have small ones that were started this winter indoors. I guess I'll buy the dried ones from nuts.com.

I'm also looking for this fig. I had a small one growing outside and it died due to the extreme cold. I'll gladly pay shipping. If anyone has it.

We have one and the food my hubby makes is slap yo mama delicious!! I especially like the vegetables. I used to hate Brussels sprouts, but they are delicious smoked.
We buy different wood chips to get different flavor notes. I bought him the whole wood chip kit from Amazon and now I'm looking for marinades. I'm just waiting for him to smoke salmon. Good luck and have fun with your smoker.

I think I will give them the cuttings with instructions. That way I won't be disappointed if I can't root them.  Maybe they'll be more successful.

So I am talking with a few of my co workers about growing fig trees.  I gave out a few because at that time I had started so many cuttings and was successful last year.  This year not so much.. Anyway, other co-workers heard and said "You didn't give me one!"
Oh, my!!! What have I started? LOL!   So, I do have some in the fridge waiting to be started.. But  my track record for rooting this year has not been great (that's why they are still in the fridge) What do I do?!

Jdsfrance,
I'm in zone 6.
So far I've tried fig cuttings in damp newspaper, in lightly spritzed soil in a container, in sponge cubes, (root riot), in perlite cups, and finally in a cup of water out doors. The first year was the dirt, I was most successful. This year I was successful with one cutting Jh Adriatic in perlite. I try not to disturb them too much, but I'm sure I do. The ones in cups of water I just started on Sunday, so I'll wait and see. I also have some covered in perlite outdoors.. I'm thinking about giving up on this rooting process and just maybe get small tree to start with..

Thanks. Now I have to do more research. It just might work.

Does anybody know if you could put fig cuttings in an Aerogarden? It has a pump to oxygenate the water and lights to get leaf growth. Would it be similar to using a cloner? I have one and might try it...I don't want to waste cuttings if I don't have to since this year I'm having a challenging time trying to root them.

Which whole foods in Manhattan? Maybe I can get a Celeste.

The rash is starting to fade, but is still itchy as all get out. I know now what to look for and plan to avoid at all costs.
