I started my fig Hobby by buying a few of Kerry's offerings back on 3-6-13 and mentioned that this would be a retirement hobby. When I received my first cuttings I had no Knowledge of what he sent to get me started with extras. My children called him Santa Claus. Every cutting I got from MR. Drivewayfarmer  rooted and grew, that is 100%, most have fruit in less than a year. So thanks to Kerry's help with my first 20 different types of figs. Now up to 64 types.....
Thank you Kerry for all your kindness and telling me about the figs4fun forum !!!!!!

 Hello Paully,
Sorry to see what happened to your GH. Mine so less than a year old and has done well this winter. I would suggest reading this web site before rebuilding as it helped me with a lot of improvements for here on the northeast coast. hfgh10x12.blogspot.web

This may help some one that needs some pine bark. I go to HD and buy the large bags of landscape pine bark for about $3. per bag and put them in the shedder side of a small Chipper/shedder with a pillow case catching the small bits and pieces.

 Hello Grasa,

A big thank you. Cuttings of DK have arrived and are looking well. Trip was delayed for three days and they were in the mailbox during 3 subfreezing days but your packing care may have saved them from damage.

Build this yesterday using 3 clay pots and a candle in a small pail. Brought temp up 15 degrees in a 12x10 hfgh overnight. It was placed beside a 30 gallon plastic water barrel with a brick spacer and it worked.  Going to up grade to the Crisco and/or oil lamp.

Hello eboone,
I have been doing dried commercial figs in a plastic bowl with a little water on the bottom in the microwave for 90 seconds.

I'm 100% with strudeidog on this, "Unknown always an Unknown". Just like artworks you need a providence to prove it is what is and that can be almost impossible.
When I buy a unknown it gets marked unknown and that is part of the fun of this hobby!

Remember this is " Figs 4 FUN " not for Profit !
Remember Jon posted this is now a nonprofit site.

 Alan,
Thanks for the info, and it is sad that both are under attack in Malta by the fig tree borer (susa). Hopefully I'll find a cutting of a Farkizzan.

Was the first common fig you ate on the island of Malta a " Malta Purple Red "? Does the other common fig have a name?

Gene, he couldn't even fire him because he had medical issues but the good news is that all the nutrients that he uses in his growing greenhouse have and will be draining back to the spot where the stumps are. Plus I think family will have back ups in there greenhouse "back-rooms".

Here is my quick figgy story.
There are three different 40 year old fig trees brought over from Lebanon and hidden in the back of a greenhouse and enjoyed by only family and friends. I was able to get two suckers in May from one of the three and it is now 7 feet tall and wrapped in a movers blanket in my greenhouse. When I went back to get some cuttings of the other two in November the owner was a little upset because his employe had not just trimmed the fig trees he had cut them down and burned the wood. Bad misunderstanding but hopefully some suckers will come up and then I'll be able to find what these great tasting family figs are called.
