aaa, Could be I be guess. No idea what tree #1 is. It turned out to be a large yellow skinned fig with amber pulp. Most people have said #2 is probably Green Ischia. tree # 1 ripe 1.jpeg

Wow, greysmith, I'm almost tempted to send you all of my cuttings in exchange for one each of all of your irises....lol. I love irises and have always said I want one of every color.  It's late and I can't remember off hand what all I have right now. I will message you tomorrow.

No, I don't have any pics of the Stanmore and I the cuttings I had didn't make it. The Stanmore figs are large and green but I don't think I got a pic of the leaves.

28 here tonight. I put a wire cage around my in ground tree and filled it with leaves and pine needles.  All the others, 1 to 5 gals, I put under the shed at the east side of garage and covered them with pine needles and leaves.  They are mostly out of the direct wind so I've got my fingers crossed.

We will be in the high 20's the next 2 nights here in northeast Texas.  I put all of my trees in the unheated shed on the east side of our garage and covered them with leaves and pine needles.  I hope they all survive.

Great info. Thanks.  =)  I'm going to have to cut back on my trees.  This is my 1st year and by Thanksgiving I will have approx. 50 varieties!  I have limited space so I don't really have the luxury of waiting 3 or 4 years for these to mature before I start to pick out the best and give away or sell the rest.  Ultimately, I'd like to keep about 10-12 trees of the very best varieties.

Welcome to the forum.  I live in the south so I really have no advice for you but there are many very knowledgeable people here.  I'm sure you will be able to find everything you need to know.

You know you're an addict when you go to sleep thinking about figs, wake up thinking about figs, try to watch TV only to realize you are thinking about figs.....lol.  You also know you are a new addict when you go outside to look at your fig trees 5 or 6 times a day.  =)

I'm only concerned about a place to put them if the temps drop into the mid 30's or lower.  We haven't had a lot of temps that low here in a while but it could always happen and I don't want to be caught with no plan for them if it does get that low.

From what I understand, clay is one of the best soils for growing fig trees and apparently roses as well.....lol.  It's just a booger to dig a hole b/c if it's been a long, dry spell, it becomes hard as a rock.

I'm in the same situation.  I was considering a greenhouse to keep them from freezing.  I don't think I have room for all of them in the garage.  Any suggestions?

I love your little fig helper.  =)  Let me know how your tree does.  I was told you should make your hole 2 to 3 times the size of the root ball.  You can imagine how big of a hole I dug for mine when I put it in the ground...lol.  If such a big hole is not necessary, please someone post it here.  I will be much happier about planting more trees if it's not as much work as the first one.  =)

I think if you are the only one to get cuttings from them (I haven't gotten an email), you should have to share yours with ALL of us....and if you don't, we are ALL going to call you Tamera....teehee....j/k.  Glad you heard from them.  At least we know now that they are still planning to send out cuttings.  =)

The pictures you posted in the above link for garden web look just like the figs I got from my friend.  Below is a link the thread w/ pictures of my friends figs.  Do you know now for certain the figs pictured on garden web are the Larme de Jaune or a Carolina Lemon as the other lady calls it.  I'd be interested to find out as this one is still an unknown also.

Thanks for sharing.  =)

James, you gave me the other Mary Lane Seedless (thanks).  It put on a ton of new growth this summer but it looks very infected with FMV.  Nearly all of the new leaves are deformed.  I'm hoping in the spring it'll snap out of it with a good dose of fertilizer.

Sas, I'm looking for ward to hearing your description on the 2nd fig.  So far, I'm really liking your description of this fig.

No rain to speak of for the last 3 months and now that I've 4 Strawberry Verte figs trying to ripen, it goes to raining and the largest of the 4 has already split and nowhere near ready to pick.  =(   I put it on the porch out of the rain so maybe I can salvage the other 3.  Crossing my fingers.
