IMO it could be Bayernfeige Violetta.
But Bayernfeige ist just a renamed English Brown Turkey.
It makes it not a bad fig but the renaming was just for commercial reasons to sell it even more expensive over here in Europe.

You are right by comparing the US east coast weather with the countries of eastern and south eastern europe.
Its kind of continental with cold winters and hot and dry summers.

The Central of Europe like were i live (Germany) and for example Denmark and the Netherland/Belgium and parts of Poland and France is comparable to the PNW climate. Mild winters and summers with less heat. We especially need short season figs like Bornholm, RdB or EBT and nit so much those cold hardy varieties.

Vlad is a honorable guy for sure.
He struggles with english as born in the soviet union.
A friend of mine received lots of varieties from him this winter.
They were in exelent condition.
I only can repeat Vlad is a man of honor!

Negronne always show two types of leaves.
The round, mulberry style ones and the lobed ones...

Even on the Pierre Baud (Provence France) website it is mentioned.

Weather changed here pretty fast last week in northern Germany.

We dropped from sunny 68F days/50 night time down to 50F in the day and 32F in the morning hours. pretty cold and unusual fot the beginning of October.

I heard in the forcast today that that early "pre winter" doesn't indicate a cold winter 14/15. it also can be pretty mild as the last ones.

If it is the Morena from swiss nursery Lubera...they change the names of the figs.
Morena ist Brown Turkey
Two Timer is Longue 'd Aout
Rossa Rotonda is Sultane
Only Peretta is not a renamed variety.

They work with well known Fig nursery "Mercato Verde" also from Switzerland.
Look for the fotos...Lubera uses the exact same pictures in several cases...

Lubera does this for marketing reasons.

It also doesn't remind me of a known variety...but it looks quite good though!

No blue or round fig...a pear shaped brown fig.

If your fig looks different it is no BT!

What makes me wonder is that i have never seen or heard of a VdB over here in Germany.
You can find Negronne yes...

Also Baud listed the Negronne not with the syn. VdB.

The website decription say to Negronne:

"Synonymes : Figue de Bordeaux, Figue Poire, Petite Ambique."

A BT as the name says is Brown.
A Mission fig is black or am i wrong?

I own a Negronne from the Pierre Baud strain.
The leaves look like the left one and no one like the VdB.

Plus the Negronne has always some round, unlobed leaves. This is a good indication to nail Negronne.

Very good Mariuzs!

I should study a little polish myself.

Michurinska 10 is said to be a very hardy and good tasting fig.
But you should cover the ingrounds for the first 2 years! Not every winter will be as mild as our last two.

My experience is that you get those huge leaves under the GH conditions. Humidity? Light? I don't know.

Joe,

that is a beautiful tree!

I would tend to say nearer to 3 years in age because of the relatively thin main stem.

Give it some time to mature and i am sure in your subtropical climate it will be a great producer.

Nero 600M a.k.a. Nero 400M is also known as Vallecalda (di Borgofornari). It's origin is Italy, Apennine Mountains.

You can read more about this variety on: http://www.planetfig.com

Yes maybe it is the desert climate that change the appearance of the tree!

I never doubt you have a great and productive fig.

But i am sure that it is not a BT. The BT never develop such leaf shapes...

Please take a look at those and compare the fruit and leaves with yours.

Sorry your link doesn't work sdpops!

I talked to a fig nursery owner over here in Europe who got his Negronne sources from Pierre Baud Provence, France.
He told me that the most obvious sign to recognize a Negronne are some of the leaves are round and mulberry like.
I don't know if VdB has this too, as there are no two different fig strains are known over here in Europe.
Negronne is known to have the syn. Violette de Bordeaux but no one will sell it under VdB.

This is a true American phenomenon. ;-)

I agree Vinni and C.J. .

But I fully understand the issues in writing and spelling names when it comes to a total different language like German or French. With weird "ö" "ä" etc... ;-)

For example:
German:

Süßer Georg (Sweet George)
Bayernfeige Violetta (Bavarian Fig Violetta)

French:

Longue d' Aout (Long of August)

From what I know Dalmatie, Precoce de Dalmatie and Bornhom/Nexö are all different varieties.

Dalmatie is a very big green pear shaped fig with deep cutted leaves. It is a slow grower. It's origin is the isle of Hvar in Croatia.

Bornholm/Nexoe and Precoce de Dalmatie are both Brown Turkey type figs but with totally different leave shapes. Bornholm has only 3 lobes, fruit is not as long and smaller than the Precoce de Dalmatie. PdD has long deep cutted leaves similar to the Dalmatie. Both BH and PdD are early ripening.
Bornholm/Nexö are grown on the danish isle of Bornholm for hundreds of years. It's true origin is unknown as the books says sailormen brought it home from their journeys in the mediteranian. (It is not sure that only one variety is grown on Bornholm island)

IMO PdD origin is also the Dalmatian coast in Croatia and not the Isle of Bornholm in Denmark.

As my friend Phil (Peak42) mentioned someone from Sweden wrote that Bornholm and Precoce de Dalmatie are the same, but just like Phil I believe that is not true.
A swedish nursery mixed something up IMO.

Zone5figger,

you already found my topic. Bornholm or Nexoe is very common here in 7b Germany, as Denmark is our northern neighbor.
It is for us like the Canadians are for the US.

Maris is right, Bornholm Island has mild winters (8b) but short summers with very rare heat days.
So it should ripen fast...

It is a BT type fig, but the fruit is distinguishable.
The neck is not as long as the Brown Turkey and the flesh is more yellowish.

The ones I tasted were fantastic. Very sweet and a wonderful fresh and melony flavor.

Definately a keeper.
