You can easily make your own with plastic bottles. Very simple to do with good results.

Tomatoes do extremely well in containers.
They require a lot of water though.

I actually give all my figs a good head start but still not enough to ripen all the figs
They need a lot of heat
my uncle has a greenhouse and at the end of February or beginning of March he brings them out of dormancy

I happen to have a fig that actually continues to ripen after being hit by frost.
Do any of you guys have something like that?

Thanks for all the advice. I've always wondered if it would be worth it since the taste
probably won't be there compared if it was grown in a hot climate

I'm in zone 5b and my fig trees are all outside still including small one year old trees.
These trees can take temperatures below freezing with no problems.
They need cool temperatures to achieve dormancy.
my threshold is minus 8 celsius even though they can tolerate lower temperatures, however if they aren't dormant
it's a different story.
Temperatures around plus 8 celsius the tree might come out of dormancy, depending how warm
the soil gets. If the root system gets warm enough they're on their way.
It has nothing to do with the amount of light they receive.
Hope that helps

30f won't hurt your trees at all.
I only move mine when it starts to get  around 16f ((dormant trees only ))
Windshield factor is what you need to keep an eye on.

Subject: Air Layers. Do you really have to wound the limb? Replies: 8
Posted By: pedrom Views: 327

No need to cut the bark at all
Make sure you use something that is easily accessible for regular watering.
The key to a successful air layer is to compact the soil firmly against the limb and water often.
And make sure it's secure so it doesn't move on windy days.

Welcome to the forum. Sometimes it's really hard to identify a variety, take a look at these pics. These are from the same tree and every year the tree ages I find the figs change appearance and taste. I'm sure everyone can relate to this as well. Most of my trees are unknowns but you know what it doesn't bother me.. they are delicious either way. .happy figgin

That's a very good question. I'm not sure if it's breba or main crop.
I brought this plant indoors before the fridget temperatures so I allowed it to grow pretty much all winter.
I'm thinking it's the main crop. This year I actually made a cold rom for them so I'll have a better understanding of what is.
