I've emailed them also with pictures of my 2 I bought from them. Will update on response to the situation. I should note it's my first mix up with them in over 4 years and close to a thousand dollars spent at their nursery.

Anyone tried to artificially seal a fig eye? With honey perhaps? Love to hear your thoughts. Had a few Lyndhurst White I had to pull early due to small sugar ants desecrating the figs.

Another good fact about IC is that it will still fruit if frozen to the ground. Pinch those tips and you will still get an abundance of fruit.

I think to that the IC is a bigger fruit than regular Celeste. Yield should be better too as the IC doesn't drop as much fruit.

Subject: Is Scotts Black = LSU Black ? Replies: 48
Posted By: AL_Blake Views: 2,949

I much prefer a Scott's Black or PFTP LSU Black fig to an LSU Purple. The SB /LSU Black is complex with many flavors while the purple is just ok so far. Of course, my purple is only in its 3rd year so I'm giving it to at least 5 years where it's suppose to obtain better flavor.
As far as the subject of this, I have one from both places and I think they are the same.

I have LSU Improved and it produced tons of figs. It will fruit for th even if killed back to the soil line. I picked up a Hunt and Orourke This year so still evaluating those. Champagne is a fabulous fig too that produces in bounty for me. I got the Champagne at PFTP.

Subject: Can't I just put the cutting in a pot...???? Replies: 14
Posted By: AL_Blake Views: 706

I've done this as well But I use 2 per pot on varieties I have excess cuttings of. Then, if I give them away, it's 2 plants. If I sell, its 2 for 1. I plant 2 to a hole on my property anyway. I have 5 acres but two per hole is a great combo of space saving and maximum production. I should add the two per hole method is with two of the same variety.

I have the dreams too, especially in summertime.I even get excited to see figs mentioned in everyday life. Booze Traveler was in Armenia a few episodes back and they were drinking fig brandy and eating fresh figs as a pairing with another drink. I even cheered in church the other day when figs were mentioned!

Dennis, I'm in an 8A climate like you except in central AL. Can I expect to keep this one potted or is yours in ground?
I only ask because I have what I've termed LSU Row...all of the "official" LSU releases in ground in a row. I'd love to keep adding to it with my small Thibodeaux and hopefully White Honey cuttings I picked up this year.

I had a co-worker bring me some figs from her tree today. It was a celeste from what I could identify. Another co-worker wanted to try one as she had never had a fresh fig. And what were her words??? It tastes like a peach and honey. I immediately thought about this post!
