Thanks for the help.

Hi it's Kausik from Adelaide, Australia. I want to update you guys with the figs from the down under. Most of my fig trees are in 2nd year and producing first time.

Peter's honey tree is only 1 year old and very productive. The fig is medium to small size but extremely sweet. Definitely need to put one in the ground.

Italian honey is mildly sweet, and will sure get better with age. First time ever produced

Vista mission main is tasty and rich in flavor. Small size but extremely heavy producer. My small 2 years tree is loaded with fig.

Archipal, thin skin, juicy and tasty. beautiful looking fig when ripens and good producer.

Since the time I started to grow figs I always wanted to post a picture plate full of figs.
This afternoon i picked up some Brown turkey and Pink Gerusalem. THE Brown Turkey was average but the Pink Gerusalem is really juicy and sweet. The skin was so thin and tasty, even my 4 year old daughter eats the whole lot.
This variety shows great promise and maybe I should put in the ground next season.

Next in the line of ripening is Celeste ans Adam. Lets see how they taste.
Thanks for looking.

It is the same Angie. The time when we get the cuttings and tree from Graham, food forest we told Black Mission. But seeing the fruit and the leaf confirmed it is vista. The tree is heavy bearer and you should get 2 crops. Tasty figs but the skin a little thick side. I am sure you will enjoy.

Hi Guys is's Kausik from Adelaide, Australia. I know fig season in USA is finished but foe us down under things are just getting warm up.
last year i bought this mission fig tree, initially I thought it is Black Mission but now seeing the size and shape of the fig more convinced that may be this is Vista mission. Yesterday i picked up the first breba from the tree. it seems really early to get a fig already. the taste was quite rich and the skin of the fig is very thin. Hope with the age taste will get better.

Another fig I picked up is called Clancy , a made up name by late Tony Stevens.
The fig is honey sweet and tasty. hopefully the main crop will be even better.

Thanks to Enigma to bring it to our attention. It is very unfortunate that someone pretend to be fig enthusiast and collector can actually cheat other fellow members. They should be named and shamed.
There are still lot of good sellers out there who is selling good quality cuttings. Next year before rare fruit society meeting let me know if you want me pick up some cuttings from there. Just pay for the cost. I can do that for fellow members.

Hopefully in coming years I can share some of my collection with others. The trees are still very young but they should be ready soon.
Take care.

I agree Michael, Australian custom to a point nearly paranoid about bringing anything alive in the country.
Nothing will ever come with soil and to import one needs to have import permit. Also willing to pay for quarantine cost for 45 days.

I think Melenzana means eggplant in Italian as well. According to my source this tree produces big eggplant shape figs weighing around 120 to 150 gros. The fig is moderate in taste but huge to display. Only time will show me the true colour of this tree.
Macotta the R14 looks very similar to Archipal.

Andreas I thought you have a same fig called Vassana in Greece.
Thanks guys.

Hi guys this is Kausik from Adelaide, Australia. Just to share the update on all the cuttings that rooted this year. So far collection wise this is the best year. Thanks to some great fig members, I can able to achieve some great varieties. Most of my cuttings rooted in sphagnum moss , then move into 50-50 perlite and potting mix kept in humidity dome. Finally in potting mix.
Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do.
Now I have to wait to taste the food.
Take care,
Kausik

Gen ,
my success of collecting different varities has nothing to do with Rare fruit society. I only got 3 varities from them. Most of the rare ones are from my personal rapport with different growers. I took chances and spend top dollar to achieve some of those varities. You will be surprised find how many varities are exist in Victoria. Yalca fruit tree from Victoria got some special varities. Even Bunnings offer atleast 6 different varities to choose from. So you can start with the common ones. My friend already sold some of my tress in ebay to cover some of the costs. I will put some more and one of them will be Peter's Honey. So if you want it badly, there is your chance. Strawberry verte will be available next year.
Hope this helps.

I have this Panache rooted from cutting and it's in 3rd year. Spring is coming to Adelaide and this little beauty is came to live. It's already started to form it's stripes on the fig. Hopefully this year I will have some more fig to try. Panache is very rare to find in Australia , so this tree is super special for me. Do you guys have normally breaba fig from Panache?
Hopefully I can trade or sell some cuttings end of the season.
I will keep in posted of the progress of this during the season.
Thanks for looking.
