Thanks Smyfigs.
Hi Dan,
When it comes to flavor honestly I always get myself confuse. Just don't know
as to what kind of taste to equate with..the only thing I could say for this fig is very sweet and delicious. :)

I live in West Malaysia where we have a tropical climate with high temperatures and high humidity almost throughout the year.

Normally during daytime temperatures would  rise above 30°C (86°F) all year-round and night-time rarely drop below 20°C (68°F).

Here is my only Chinese variety. Got it as bare root from one of my friends.

Planted in 24" pot on 21/01/2016 . Chopped off some of the suckers and left only one to grow.

Wonder how does it look and  taste like when fully ripen.. :)

Well some of my fig tree I don't pinch, just chop them off something like half of the main stem.
After a month or two the plants will produce some new shoots and later turn into branches.

Here is what I did to one of my plants.#Negronne.

Thanks..
When allowed to fully ripen and let the skin wrinkle a bit the taste is just superb, delicious and so very sweet.
It's one of the sweetest figs that I've tasted.
To me this is definitely a keeper.

An old brand but it's worth having.
Every fig that fully ripen, most of them have the so called honey drop.
Here are some pics of the figs ripen on tree for sharing..:)

Thanks for the suggestion Dan.
In fact I have that in mind too but I thought doing it on the branches would better off rather than main stem.
Guess have to wait till all the fruits ripen then I'll do a few air layering as backup.

Yeah..I do fully agree about the pinching or rather chopping off top part of the tree and branches to make it more bushy
but I'm too scared when comes to BM due its slow growth. Most of my plants I did the pinching while they were still small
here is one of them and of course a different variety.. :)

Thank you for the compliments..yes it's worth the wait indeed. Taste very sweet and delicious. It was from the cutting and at the very beginning the growth was very very slow. The tree now is over 5ft tall. I'll upload the picture later.

Hi Jerry..mostly if not all De La Reina planted in Malaysia came only from a single source that is from Monserrat Pons.
In fact all the catalan figs here too came from MP..

Herman2: Noted with  thanks.
I think the best is  just leave it as 'Unknown'..at least for now.
Had an over ripe fruit before this but the pulp is not that dark enough..

Herman2: Thank you for the suggestion..
So from now on I guess it's appropriate for me to re-tag this cultivar as 'Italian 258' without prejudice..
Vladis..any objection?

Herman2: after going tru pictures of all the tree varieties suggested..
obviously  it's not Black Madeira I guess..the nearest that I could think of is either Italian 258 or Preto but again Preto has longer neck..
Very confusing..
