may be a dumb question but I have a humidity dome with a few fig cuttings in it.  I found mold on one of the cuttings.  My question is"could it potentially contaminate all the healthy fig cuttings and the humidity dome?  The cuttings aren't touching one another but they are very close proximity.  Also is it safe to handle other cuttings if you previously touched a molded cutting?

You should never have water in the saucer. I use one watering can for the two large figs in about 20 inch pots and my pomegranate in a 18 inch pot. I'll have to refill for my new fig in the small starter pot, about a 12 pot. I worry more about the pomegranate drying out.
. Their 2 year old trees

*UPDATE*  So the frost did indeed hit this morning.  The in-ground Figs leaves have began to wither but so far the figs in the in the containers didn't get much of the frost's bite.  I guess because the front porch is roofed.    May take them off the porch into the yard to speed up the dormancy.  Wondering if I should cover my in ground plants now or maybe wait a little longer?

I have about 4 (2 year old)  potted figs outside in 3 to 5 gallon pots.  Been really watching the weather and its supposed to drop to 27 degrees Saturday then go back up to the high 30's and low 40's at night.  This morning was about 37 degrees and I also noticed (for the first time) frost on my car windows.  So far all the trees  leaves haven't weathered yet.  I was wondering if this sudden 10 degree drop in temperature possibility freeze the roots of my potted figs?   Should I bring then in the garage?  Cover with a frost blanket?  I want them to go dormant but I don't want to kill them.

So far I've got everything I need to bundle up my figs this winter.. Everything except for the water proofing part. This winter I've decided to wrap my trees in burlap then cover that with plastic. My main concern is whether or not to leave the top open and cover with a pail like many suggest. But I've also seen many on youtube cover their figs using plastic as waterproofing without leaving a the top open for air. They just simply insulate it and completely blanket with plastic with great success. So how important is it allowing the tree to ventilate? Is it really necessary if the tree is in a dormant state? Thanks everyone.

. Well what i really done was the universal "scrape test" to see if it were alive. But instead of a scrape I took only a small slice with a knife on the main trunk. But maybe there is still a chance.

. I did notice the honey fig (the tallest) hump over all most touching the ground when it was coldest. It did spring back up strait when it got warmer outside.

So out I'm my yard I planted a Hardy Chicago, Peters Honey, and Celeste last year their from about 2 years old and the honey fig tree is 3 years old. Anyway I live on the line of 7a and 6b. I didn't really worry too much about winter weather hurting the cold hardy figs with winter protection. I wrapped the figs with some light winter protection just in case but I was not expecting how cold it was going to be this year. Temperatures dropped as low as 2 degrees the coldest it's been in years from what I can remember. I was defiantly concerned. Well about a week ago I cut all the trees just enough into the bark just enough to see if I could find any life. NO green at all, just total white and brown. I did a major face palm. The only tree that showed any life was the black mission tree in my garage, which was green under the bark. Im pretty disappointed, any hope the trees will recover? I'm a first time fig grower and was really looking forward to them baring fruit. Will they grow back from the roots? If so how quick? Any advice? Tips? I appreciate anyone taking the time to read and respond. Thanks
