figs do not ripen after you remove them from the tree.
they slowly spoil... so, while they apear to get softer the taste does not get better.

can you please, now that you are taking new pictures stop calling it an airlayer. you are confusing people that dont know what an airlayer is, and others that will be reading this topic in the future.
other than that. You have done a great job. i hope you get 2 plants and taste the fruit from it this season. best of luck.

mai
if you like to share info to help others learn, please do.
i have learned many things in this forum myself.
please dont turn it in to a puzzle and answer in caps if you dont like the answer people gave you.
the answer to your question has benn given.
you can not airlayer a cutting.
you can only root it in a second place after you have started rooting in another part of it.
but that is still rooting. it is not airlayering

Your more than welcome at my campfire, Andreas.

We feel for you,   I've got a good friend here that immigrated from Australia when they began their confiscation of firearms.

And your welcome to sample firing most any of the sidearms I have on hand.  Now that you've been teethed on the Desert Eagle, you can step up to something with a little more horsepower.  Say, the Freedom Arms .454 Casull and S&W 500.  ;-)

i will not give Harvey a moving target. he caught the rat with peanut butter and bananas. lol
so i think ill sit and enjoy some of his figs. if he gets me ill go down happy :-)

thank you for offering the use of your cannons... but i am a bit rusty.
can i try a few 9mm to warm up first?

Our welcome mat is always out, for those that can make it to the left coast and want to burn powder.

Maybe on Monday if we have some time we can use my dueling tree a bit.  I usually shoot right near my fig orchard. :)  I need the practice.

if you guys can reschedule, (my passport is not valid) and can lend me a toy to use, i can come in august... it will be a better time for me to visit.
as long as you 2 are taking pops at the tree, ill be doing some fig tasting on the side ;-)

all fig trees in greece are never watered.
they probably need help the first season, and after that the roots are long enough
to find what they need to make it.

you only see one as goog because it is the only one with fresh growth...

i have to go with Harvey on this one.
there are 4 types in greece.
3 sell mostly as commercial grade figs from the local nurseries.
and the 4th is rare and the real thing!!!
P.S.  none of the figs sold in USA are the real vasilika sika
one is a stella type. and the other is just not the real thing.
sorry... just my 2 cents.

Vladis
this is a guy from bulgaria he has contacted me through facebook for cuttings.
this fig that you are showing on the video is a smyrna fig named marabout.
that is a fig that ships well and holds well for markets.
this fig that i am showing is like i said new to me but as far as i know its not the same as marabout.
it looks similar but its not it. it has no shelf life so it cant make it to the markets
its great for home, fresh use, very thin skin and very juicy.
i will try and show some more pictures... i dont have many more good ones.
i do know of one more type of greek fig that looks like this.
i will try and get some pictures of the other type as well, and as soon i can add a watermark
ill post them as well.

Francisco thank you my friend
you have some of the best figs so coming from you is very high praise.

Pino the greek black that is in the states got that name by accident. when you ask
a greek on what type of fig they have or like, you will never get a name
they will just say black or white. so greek black is an unknown black greek fig, its not named that way.

hadoulis is a last name so its a fig that they dont know the name... so to id it they used the lastname of the owner and the island

Igor i will check to see if they float but i am sure its a common fig (nurseries dont sell smyrna because they cant expect buyers to find the wasp, unless you go to a specialty nursery and ask for smyrna)
as soon as its ripe i will do a seed test. its just starting to get darker. it needs a few more days.

tyler its a common fig. but the first season rooted plants droped most of them with me as well.
it did re fruit on new seasons growth and most are on the tree.
what ever droped, droped from lack of water, and not being uppoted... its in a small pot, no larger
than a beer mug.
this plant has never left my balcony and there is no way ever for the fig wasps to get to it.
closest wild fig tree is about 1500 meters. no wasp could fly that far. IMG_0231.JPG
