Check out taobao.com

its chinese website such as amazon but way bigger. U will find various nurseries which are offering chinese fig varieties mostly bare roots. I got all my chinese fig trees from there.

The rest is down to your chinese language skills and your countries import regulations ;)

Yes this guy is well known among german growers, but Bayernfeige (bavarian fig) is supposed to be a brown turkey type and this one isnt really cold hardy compared to other figs (guess -20 degree is just a marketing trick). And bavarian fig definetely cant bear any crop when freezing back.

I would look after local romanian varieties, maybe you get some russian or bulgarian figs (would try michurinska-10 oder rdb).

Hi Maris,

I got same problems here in Berlin (right next to you), maybe slightly better climatic conditions. I will now focus on heavy breba crop figs such as desert king or early bearing main crop figs for inground. In addition I use a little greenhouse to fasten growth and ripening for my pottet plants.

In my area figs arent popular. Only in the garden of an ancient palace next to berlin (potsdam) we got three different varities, which were planted in former times by prussian kings.
One of these varities is Dalmatie, which is performing well (is protected by glas in wintertimes).... the other two are still unknown to me. As pino already said, I guess dalmatie would be good choice for your area. You could also try Pastiliere, Md2S or Desert King.

Bayernfeige is just a marketing gimmick. A name which has been given by german nursery "plattner"... it shall pretend frost and cold hardyness, but in fact its not the best choice for german grower. the german fig-community is really sure that this one is only a brown turkey type. Its a well known problem, that some nurseries give new names to old varities and sell them for more money..unfortunatly it leads to confusion among growers and to duplication an the collection.
