Subject: OT goji plant dead? Replies: 5

have mine in pots and could not get out to water them for several weeks in a row. When I finally got outside, they looked like dried up twigs. After watering for a few weeks, they are back and full of leaves. If only my other plants could recover so easily.

I have not purchased figs from them, but other plants like bananas, mango, rambutan, bay leaf, and several others. They are very small and arrive in 2" pots. Mine at least have taken off really nicely and I have had to transfer them to 1 gal pots. Since I don't get outside much to water my plants, I have been surprised that 90% of my plants from them have not only survived but grown.

I'm kicking myself. I didn't see this til now (too late of course) and this is the fig I really wanted! Guess it's karma, I couldn't afford it right now anyway. It was really nice of you Gary to offer your cuttings at a really reasonable price to the group.

I saw on youtube a 'solar dehydrator'. Was thinking about building one for a summer project. Love those tomatoes by the way. Where can I the seeds?

I've only started trying to root fig cuttings, but I would be interested in trying my hands at rooting pomegranate cuttings too. Is there someone here that has a couple cuttings I could try? Is it best to have more than one variety? I am perfectly willing to pay for them and or shipping. I live in zone 9 and would to make my yard an edible orchard.

Subject: Plant multiple rooted cuttings in a single hole? Replies: 5

I am still new to all this. But I have read several topics where people braid different varieties together. This way 2-3 varieties can be planted in the same hole. Perhaps, since you have extras, this would be something to consider or experiment with.

I think you did a great job. I am still in the early novice stage of just trying to get cuttings to root, but grafting looks like it would be interesting and fun. One step at a time!!

Okay. If it's not for Florida, perhaps some of the northern members would want them.

Please give me a couple of days to figure out the whole shipping process.

Thank you for the quick responses!

If you have  to prune it to fit in a shipping container, could I get a few of the cuttings? I'll pat for the shipping.

I have a small plant (don't know what kind) that I purchased some 12 years ago from a nursery catalog (Raintree??). Anyway, it is more of a spindly bush (4 foot tall at most) and it has NEVER produced a singe fruit much less a bud or budding flower. Should I dig it up and trash or do you know a way to make this sickly thing start producing??

I live I Central Florida (zone 9)

While still very new to fig growing, My wish list would include:

1. Black Madeira
2. CDD (any and all)
3. Dall'Osso
4. Ponte Tresa
5. Sanguinato greek
6. Viola Blue Mountain (saw it online somewhere)

I wonder if I could turn the thicker fig branches (1 inch and greater in diameter) into pen blanks. They would have to be straight and 6-8 inches long. Don't know if they would have any special figure in the wood or if all fig variety wood looks the same,  but it might be interesting.

How long will cuttings remain viable in the crisper drawer if the cuttings are placed in vacuum sealed bags dry? I would hate to have all that I have go bad if I delay getting them out.

Amber, if you would like to trade for Loquat tree cuttings, I'm your guy. I live in Central Florida (zone 9). I grew my tree from seed and it is currently over thirty feet tall and that's with cuttings down to a 4 foot trunk, twice. Right now, the tree is loaded with clusters of flowers, so it does attract lots of bees. If interested, I will go out and cut however many you need the day I ship. Send me a pm. I also have a small plant about 8 inches that is growing from a seed. It would be the grandchild of my big loquat tree.

To everyone:  I should have all of the refunds for Black Greeks, the last few consolidated orders, and Mario's Celeste done by the end of today.  I've had trouble getting into PayPal the past couple of days, but it's letting me in fine now.  There were a lot of folks reporting the same issue, so apparently the problem was pretty widespread.

On the off chance you haven't refunded me for the Celeste yet, just donate that refund money to this website.

Mine came in yesterday. As I am incredibly new to this, I didn't expect the cuttings to be so thick and as long as they are. I feel like a kid in a candy store. Thanks.

Hello, I guess I was late to the party, but I just ordered a few of the remaining variety cuttings you have left. I look forward to receiving them and watching them grow. Thanks for offering these. The only fig plants I have is a small brown turkey cutting and an unknown variety cutting. They are still alive and growing so no complaints.
