I learned to build Self irrigation bucket from here and moved all my <1 year old trees to those bucket less than 2 month ago. They grow like crazy and I was very happy.

Until yesterday, I took a look at the lower bucket to check water level and found lots of roots come out from the bottom of the higher bucket! What should I do? Cut off these long roots? Or just leave them there sticking in the water?

Thank you for advice!

I would pot up. Just slip them out of the pot and put them in the new. Don't shake the roots - let them as is.
In which usda zone are ? in ground possibility ?
A bigger pot will help the trees in getting more consistent water, and nutrients which will stress them a lot less and help them with fruiting.

I bought them around last October. At that time I didn't know much about gardening so I missed the opportunity to pot up then.
I live in San Jose, zone 9b.
Thanks!

Thanks to both of you. I will wait until fall to repot, and pinch a few small ones off.

I have two fig trees, oneVDB, one panachee, in 5 gallon nursery pot. I bought them last fall. Now each has 30+figs on it, which is great. But I feel the growth is slow and wonder whether it's wise to repot to a bigger pot. Would it disturb the fruits? Thanks so much for advice!

Very good collection! I envy that you have 3 RDB! My cuttings all failed. If you would like to sell one to make space for new variety, please send me a message. Greatly appreciated!
Anyone else has a rooted RDB for sell? Pls leave me a message. Thanks!

Am I the only one wondering how you are going to consume all the delicious figs from your forest at harvest time? Do you need help?

My attempt to root RDB cuttings failed miserably. Should I try one more time or buy a rooted plant?
Anyone in San Jose CA or nearby have one for sale? Anyone still have cuttings to share? Thanks in advance.
Another question is shall I pot up when fig starts to fruit? I have two trees in 5gallon pot and both have figlets. Water seems to come right out from bottom. Is it a sign to pot up? Will the stress kill the fruits?
Any help is deeply appreciated, thanks!

Inspired by your post, I did something similar. I pinched off some of the tips and two days later, quite a few fillets showed up! 2 out of 3 little trees have this progress, I am very happy. Thanks again!

Johnparav, I don't know why you said that. For whatever reason, Mai shared her knowledge and success, and helped a lot of people who loves figs and gardening, just like you. She deserves respect and appreciation.

Two more pictures. One has the wilted leaf. The other looks dry too.

Hi Mai Mai,
I do have a problem after following your method. All the cuttings have been soaked in water more than 2 days. After bagging them, I open the big bag for a few minutes every two days. There's mist in the big bag and small soil bags as well. However the cuttings seem drying out. Here are some pics attached. There were several cuttings which had little leaf out but now all wilted. I don't understand did I make it too wet or too dry? Thank you for your advice!

Thank you for advice. Here are some pics after I open the large bag and take the whole box out.
In the first pic, the cutting looks dried out.
In the second pic, there's mist in the bag of pot mix, seems to be good as Lolita1234 described in her post.
So is there too much moisture? Or too less? What should I do?

Hello everyone, this is my first time trying to root cuttings and I used Mai Mai 's bag method. It has been a week since I put them into the bag. Every two days I let them out for a few minutes. There's mist in the bag. However the cuttings seem very dry. Please advise what I did wrong. Many many thanks!
