Subject: Still leaves on my Fig Trees Replies: 14

I am in Harrisburg and all my fig trees still have leaves. One started to drop them but is still holding onto 4 leaves now. My pomegranate dropped half its leaves and a few of my persimmons got rid of them while half of the trees are still holding onto them. But it is crazy warm at this time of the year. I am starting to wonder if I might get one or 2 more ripe figs, maybe I should thin whats trying to ripen and see if they can finish a few more.

Root pouches worked great for my pawpaw seedlings this year. Not sure the difference in price though.

Subject: Heavy flowering fertilizer anyone experimented? Replies: 1

I have seen the fertilizers on amazon with super high P and K. They are usually used for flowers(industry) or weed it seems. I wonder if it would have any effect on figs. Isnt it a flower of some sort. If it did I wonder what effect it might have. Making a ton of figs or making huge figs or speeding up the time to ripen. If someone thinks its not a total waste I might try it out next year. I figured I would link a few of those products, hopefully the links work. Just contemplating and wondered if anyone else has thought about it.

Right now just using some hoses my dad probly got out of the garbage and have a few small holes they leak out of. If I were to buy a new one it would probably be the ones in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D86vJUTtEpA

Wow we are talking about the same tree. That is something else. I find out about figs less than 5 months ago, scour the internet reading alot, decide to randomly check craigslist and visit the same tree as you.

Were you able to get any riper ones. One of the kids there said sometimes the inside does get red, i tried to find a real ripe one today and just the area near the eye began turning red. I think this one would turn completely red given enough time. I told them i wanted a gallon before I showed up(the first visit), not realizing a tree probly wont have a gallon worth of ripe figs at one time. They were pretty good though. Here are a few pictures from today: http://imgur.com/a/tUuT8

Dennis you dont happen to be a cyclist do you?

Went to buy figs from somebody, they dont know what variety it is(previous owner passed away). It has been outside for at least 30 years they said. Zone 7(8?) Concord NC. Going back to buy an airlayer soon. The figs I bought could have gone a few days, but i guess thats what I get for buying a gallon at one time. Oh the thing is covered in figs. When I go back ill try to get pictures. Its about 10 to 12 foot tall from memory, very bushy about 12 foot wide next to a shed. Very dark black purple with white dots almost like looking into space, closed to slightly open eye. Most of the ones i got could have gone a few more days on the tree but a few almost ripe ones were hidden in the bunch and I tried to group them together for pictures. Many slightly pink with tinges of red. One that I ate the bottom half was very red. Had I known that was going to be the ripest one I would have taken a picture.
