It doesn't turn yellow or have as long of a neck like the photos I have seen of Yellow Long Neck. Plus, isn't that a really late one?

Yes, Jon, I have been fertilizing them regularly. The first one described I have had in a 15 gallon pot for several years until it was planted in the ground last year. They both just stay the same height. All my other figs in pots grow, but not these.

As for photos, the one in the ground barely has any leaves since the last of the fruit was ripening so can't show you a good leaf.. Does this every year. Leaves look bad, dry around the edges (yes, Jon, I do water them enough) and most fall off. Now it is getting a few new leaves but in past years in the potdidn't usually get many new leaves before going dormant. Then it look fine in the spring when it leafs out again. The one still in a pot is very full so I will try to get some photos of it. I have only had it for a couple of years and it has gotten fuller than the other but not as much fruit

Here in Los Angeles there are a bunch of people who are growing a fig they call Celeste that has a green fruit with red inside. I got cuttings from the W.L.A. Rare Fruit Growers scion exchange where one very knowledgeable lady says it is her favorite flavored fig, so I thought I would try it. Finally got good fruit on it this year. The tree looks like it will grow very tall, quickly. The fruit is fairly large, green but a little toward yellow when fully ripe, has a medium to longish length neck, very red inside, very sweet but only when really, really ripe (the squirrels got most of them). To my tastebuds I would say it was kind of a berry flavor. The fruit ripened in August with a few left in early September.

Any ideas?

Hello everyone. I have two trees that I got from other people that don't seem to grow taller than 4 feet. I have no idea what their names are. Both were "rescued" from people who didn't want them because they said they never grew or produced good fruit.

One had been planted in the ground for at least 6 years and was not doing well. Only a few fruit each year and they were dry and little flavor. Once I put it into a pot and fertilized it it grew better and started producing more and better fruit. I planted it in the ground last year and had quite a few fruit this year, late July to early September, small, black, and seemed very similar to Violetta de Bordeaux.

The other had only been grown in a pot and I was told it didn't produce fruit. It was obviously at least several years old. It is still in a pot and has only produced a few fruit (probably because of neglect) but they were very similar to the other.

They are both slow growers and don't seem to be able to grow any taller.

Any ideas?

To anyone who is in the Los Angeles, California areas of zone 9 and 10, such as Altadena Mara, could you please list your ripening succession of your favorite tasting figs? I am in N. Inglewood, near the bottom of the hills so I have some ocean influence but still get really warm in the summer. I have a motley assortment of figs that have only been in pots until now. I want to only plant varieties that will give me the longest harvesting times of figs (greedy, I know). Don' want to waste space with ones that are only OK in flavor. Especially looking for a Breba crop with good flavor.

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If you can't figure out which type it is, start some cuttings and offer them to others on the site.I would love to have one!

Hello everyone. Hopefully this will be of value to others as well. I am in the Los Angeles area in So. California, zone 10 or Sunset zone 23 or 24 (some ocean influence but gets fairly hot during the early summer, yard is sloped, facing north. Because of my location I can grow most varieties but not sure ones like Kadota will get enough heat for best flavor.

Once I realized I loved fresh figs I began collecting plants and cuttings of many varieties and now that I have my own home to plant them in the ground I want to plant only the most delicious and get the widest fruiting season possible.
I don't seem to have a good breba fig and most of mine fruit in August.
Any and all suggestions and advice is much appreciated!

Named (hopefully correctly) varieties I currently have:
Brown Turkey
Celeste (the green variety with red inside)
Violetta DE Bordeaux
Negronne
Black Jack
Strawberry Verte (from John)

I also have ones that I don't know the name of:
2 trees that seem to only get 4 feet tall (after many years) with small, black sweet figs
2 trees that seem very similar to Black Turkey in growth (huge) and fruit but seem to be sweeter in flavor
