Would it be better long term to take off any fruit on a plant that young so that energy goes to root?

I would assume that considerable energy is spent in the process, thoughts?

Hi All,

I have seen a lot of mention of the rooting medium ProMix.

I went to the website and saw a huge line of products.

http://www.promixgardening.com/en/

Could you guys recommend a specific product, this is my first time using this, I had previously used a mixture of vermiculite and perlite with limited success.

Thanks,

Dom

Hi All,

I know everyone is having problems with posting photos, the easiest thing that I've come up with is posting them on twitter and then sharing the links in the post.

What other solutions are you guys finding?

Hi All,

I started this cutting a few weeks ago in water, could you tell me if this cutting looks healthy.

Also, do you think it is time to move the cutting to a growing medium, I have seen earlier posts where folks have said too early can cause you to lose the cutting.

I attached a link to the photos below:

Thank you all in advance.

My wife is making this tomorrow, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Ciao Italia with Marianne Esposito: Pizza di Buongustai

Pizza di Buongustaio means gourmet pizza, when you are really thinking outside the crust. For this pizza I took inspiration from dried figs, onions and gorgonzola dolce cheese. This is perfect to serve to dinner guests as a starter with a glass of gutsy red wine. Both the figs and onions can be cooked ahead of time leaving only the pizza dough to make and form in less than 10 minutes.

Makes 2 12-inch pizzas

I brought my 2 foot Genovese basil plant in for the winter, my wife keeps asking where the gnats are coming from but she hasn't figured it out yet.

Last week I called "You Bet Your Garden" on WHYY and Mike McGrath recommended soilless potting mix to deal with the pests.

Steve, how did you apply the sand?

Hi Ross,

For myself I am looking for figs, I just started.

I have a small Olympia which I got from a farmer in Swedesboro, NJ and a co-worker gave me an unknown from Queens, NY which has developed roots.

My friend asked me about the lemon tree because he knows I grow peppers in the summer and thought I would know.

Hey Guys,

Some cool news, the folks at Cutting Globe are sending me a few samples.

I am not sure how many they are sending but I am planning to send some to Dave.

If you are interested in trying them out just reply to the thread and I will keep a list of names.

I am going to keep one for myself and get out as many as possible, I told the folks at the company I would write a review.

Looking forward to the experiment.

Hi All,

I thought I would take a shot and see if I could help a friend find the elusive answers to his questions about lemons.

He wishes to grow a tree indoors as he is in an apartment in Brooklyn with a relatively small balcony

Are they good growers indoors?  Should they have some sort of enclosure to maintain humidity along with grow lights?

Also, what kind of varieties do you recommend? I searched the forum and frequently saw Meyer's and Eureka.

I came across this chart which lists a few:

Thanks everyone,

Dom

How did you do this summer in Maine? Do you have a hard time finding hardy enough varieties in your area?

I took the cutting and used the miracle grow hormone I use when I clone my peppers and put it into the milk bottle and set it by my window

So at this point you would pot the cutting or let it continue in the water?

What is HP soil?

Thanks!

A friend of mine gave me a cutting from her uncles tree in Queens, NY, this was about a month ago.

I put the cutting in a glass milk jar and initials developed about a week later.

Now the cutting has 4-5 roots and I would like to ask the forum's opinion on where to go from here.

Thank you for your anticipated input!

Of course the photo will not upload from the phone, below I've posted two links.

I used a similar product but with holes punched and white plastic which reflects the light off the bag keeping the root moisture under your control.

They produced amazing results for my tomato and pepper plants. The 5 gallon bags were awesome, I will pot the link, I got 25 for $15

To prevent loss of moisture correct?

Subject: The Cutting Globe Propagation Device Replies: 38

Hey All,

I think that the biggest advantage of the globes is that the aesthetics make them easier to put on a friends tree if they are doing you a favor and letting you air layer off of their plant. A setup with tupperware might be a harder sell; so in the case of people like me who depend on others a bit more I think this is the way to go.
