Vasilika Sika, White Greek, Stella, Dalmatie,   All look very similar. I am growing all 4. Dalmatie is only 1 season old and for me is the slowest growing of the 4.  My Vasilika Sika is the oldest of the 4 maybe 5 years old. It is a fast growing fig for me and ripens earlier than Stella.  while all 4 have leaves and figs that look very similar. White Greek seems to develop a taste that is like a full flavored fig jam while the others have not been as strong a flavor. Not sure if they are the same or different figs but I am happy to have all 4 as Vasilika, White Greek, and Stella could be the same or different but are always splendid tasting.
Vasilka grows like a Busch for me and is early and fast growing. White Greek leaves and figs looks the same but growth habits seem different. My White Greek  grows fast as a single trunk and does not branch out much. Dalmatie is the slowest growing of the 4 for me. Stella fruited this year for the first time and was later than Vasilka and White Greek. All hang well and don't crack. Stella for me has been later than the rest but this could be and age thing.  Vasilika needs a large pot to grow fast. For me It will take another season or 2 to decide on weather they are the same,or related or diffrent.

Hello Jon
I also have Bataglia from Paradise nursery and it consistently is one of my best tasting figs. Sweet with a robust  berry flavor. I only wish it was earlier.
Figs like this one get me thinking about starting my green garage project!!!!!

Hi Bass,
The Malta Black fig I have came from Belliclair, Chris had a high regard for this fig " a very special fig grand parent of Celeste".
It is similar in size shape and color and taste to Violet DE Bordeaux, with a diffrent broad leaf.
It however, is very early which makes it great for the north east. It completed ripened all of its figs at about the time when your Brooklyn white starts ripening. Email me this November if you want cuttings.

Hello Jon,
My Greek Kephlonia also has a nice crop of figs growing, and the shape is interesting. Mine will need  more time to ripen. I am curious about the leaf shape. Does yours have slender finger shaped leaves similar but small than the White Greek fig?

Hello Jon,
Glad to here that you picked up the one and only Sal's fig which is the Sal's Corleone!!!!  Chris from Belliclair was very clear about their only being one Sal's fig. The other fig listed on Belliclairs literature is a typo error and should be considered Sicilian Black Fig. My Sal's Corleone fig was even labeled The original Sal's Corleone Fig and was taken directly from the original tree. The same tree that your Sal's Corleone originated from. The fig sold by eatable landscaping is not Sal's fig. All fig enthusiasts please realize that there is only one Sal's fig. The impostor Sal's fig that has been past around to many people is simply not the one and only Sal's fig. If you do not have Sal's Corleone then you do not have a Sal's Fig. Sal a relative of Chris from Belliclair brought the Corleone Sal's fig from his home town Corleone Italy 50  years ago. All of you I am sure you agree that Sal's fig was founded by Belliclaire. It was this Corleone Sal's fig that they built a business around as their premiere and most famous fig. Really why would they confuse the issue and have 2 Sal's figs. Its a plain and simple typing error. Sal's fig is Sal's fig Corleone and none other one exists!!!!!

Subject: ATREANO - TASTE? Replies: 33

Mine is growing in a 15 gallon pot planted in a potting mix 20% manure,20% leaf mulch, 20% pine bark nuggets, 20% turface MVP, 20% ground oyster shells course. I have fertilized with Miracle grow which I was applying weekly and stopped applying at the end of July. Atreano I would still recommend for its productivity, and it's flavor and sweetness are OK its just not one of the best figs for my taste. pronounced flavor with high sweetness is what I strive to find. My atreano came from Paradise Nursery. I water once to twice weekly and usually wait to see some sign of slight leaf drooping as a guide to watering.

I have a 2 year old Atreano and it does great on long Island, grows fast and produces a lot of large figs. The taste for me can only be described as average some what bland cucumber taste, but it did produce 70 large figs. Last year it seemed sweeter.

Hi George,
I think you will find that next year your Hollier will be considerably sweeter and stronger flavor. That is if it behaves like mine. Seems like a very good fig. I am looking forward to trying and LSU gold fig next season as it sounds even better.

Woody I also agree with you that for flavor and sweetness Bataglia Strawberry Verte is one of the very best, pure strawberry jam flavor

My Hollier fig went from a mediocre fig its first year to the sweetest fig in my collection this year. It was on my list to discard and I was shocked by its sweetness this year, like fig candy!!!, but still has mild but good flavor. I will be keeping this one!!!!! Golden amber center fig that drips honey. Some of my other figs have much better flavor but none match Hollier for sweetness so far.

Lets here what your sweetest fig is this year?

Hello Jon

Glad to be posting on your new Fig Message Board. Good luck with this new endeavor, and thanks for all that you have done. Many new friends have been made thanks to you and all the generous people that have been sharing their figs and information.

I thank you and all the people that have been posting their life long experiences with figs. I had failed to grow figs for 20 years watching some sad Brown Turkey, no name, and no fig, purchased from a named nursery die and grow back every year and never produced one Fig. Thanks to you Jon, and all the other members that have given great advice and their precious figs.

I am now finally enjoying lots of figs from exotic collections carefully shared from the fig community members.

I thank all of you

Ed
